Frozen 3 finally showed fans more than a release date. Disney brought Anna, Elsa, Olaf, Kristoff, and Sven to D23 for new animation—and then teased a new villainess who may be powerful enough to give Elsa a real fight. We still do not know her name, but that mystery is exactly what makes the first look fun: who is this woman, and why does she have power on Elsa’s level?

Disney’s official D23 recap keeps the tease deliberately vague. The new villainess is only described as someone whose powers rival Elsa’s. No name, origin, or explanation has been announced yet, so the internet has plenty of room to guess—but not enough information to call her an “evil Elsa” just yet. Here is what Disney actually confirmed at the showcase.

That leaves Frozen 3 in a very fun early stage. We know the familiar group is returning, we know new music is on the way, and we know Elsa may finally meet someone who can match her magic. The big answers are still being saved for another trailer or a fuller look at the movie.

What We Actually Saw at D23

Anna, Elsa, Kristoff, Olaf, and Sven are all back. Kristen Bell and Idina Menzel performed a new version of “Frozen Heart,” while Josh Gad introduced Olaf’s new song, “Ooooh, Samantha.” Yes, Olaf may have a crush now, which feels exactly like the kind of chaos he would bring to another Frozen movie. The official showcase recap confirms the returning characters and music without giving away the full story.

There is no public trailer or full synopsis yet. The footage stayed inside D23, so most of us still cannot pause it, zoom in on the background, or argue over every frame. Our D23 coverage guide has the wider Disney announcements, but Frozen 3’s villain is still being kept behind the curtain.
