The whole game takes place across a single night. Villagers are exhausted by war and misfortune, and the settlement is already close to breaking. Lilith can encounter mummers in folk costumes, move through homes, fields, woods and moors, and piece together why the community has turned on her.
Twin Swans frames the horror around fear, accusation and what people do to one another. The studio asks whether the most frightening force is not a monster or magic but human belief. That is a thematic question, not confirmation that every apparently supernatural possibility has been removed from the finished story.
How does the eavesdropping mechanic work?
Lilith can listen at windows to hear conversations without entering a room or revealing herself. Those exchanges may provide warnings, practical advice, a sacred object or even a folk song. The information is meant to help the player choose a safer route and understand the people inside.
The system is inspired by immersive theatre: the village’s stories continue around the player, and paying attention is part of exploration. Twin Swans says more than 100 characters are fully voiced, giving the setting a much larger social cast than the short one-night structure might suggest.
Is Hunter’s Moon based on real history?
The story is fictional, but its setting draws on English witch-hunt history. Writer-director Alicia Contestabile cites Matthew Hopkins, who styled himself the Witchfinder General during the 1640s, and the methods he defended in The Discovery of Witches.
Twin Swans began from a screenplay Contestabile started in 2019. The independent studio includes developers and artists whose previous credits span The Stanley Parable: Ultra Deluxe, The Dark Pictures Anthology: Little Hope, The Witcher 3 and Signalis. Those credits belong to individual team members; Hunter’s Moon is the new studio’s own game.
What accessibility features are confirmed?
The PlayStation Store currently lists 12 accessibility features. They include separate volume controls, 3D audio, basic and large subtitles, stick inversion, play without rapid or simultaneous button presses, and options that avoid motion, touch, vibration and adaptive-trigger requirements.
The store also says the game can be paused at any time during gameplay or cinematics while playing offline. These are confirmed listing details, though the menu wording or final feature count could still change before release.
