Sony is holding two State of Play broadcasts back-to-back on Thursday, September 3. The regular presentation comes first, and State of Play Japan begins immediately after it. The first show will end with an extended look at Final Fantasy VII Revelation, giving the PlayStation 5 game the clearest spotlight Sony has announced for the event.
The company has not published a full game list or separate runtime for either stream. What it has confirmed is enough to plan around: one shared start time for the back-to-back block, different regional focuses, and one named Square Enix game.
When does State of Play start on September 3?
The broadcast block begins at 6 a.m. Pacific, 9 a.m. Eastern, 8 a.m. Central, 3 p.m. Central European Time, and 10 p.m. Japan Standard Time. The regular State of Play airs first, and State of Play Japan begins immediately after it. Sony has not announced a separate clock time for the second show.
Those published times all describe the start of the first presentation. Because Sony has not given either show's runtime, viewers who want to watch State of Play Japan should keep the stream open after the regular State of Play ends.
What is in the first State of Play?
Sony says the opening broadcast will include updates and announcements from PlayStation Studios and its third-party partners. It did not name the other games or reveal how long the presentation will run.
The one confirmed segment is an extended look at Final Fantasy VII Revelation from Square Enix. The game is the next part of the Final Fantasy VII remake project and is scheduled for PS5 in spring 2027. Sony’s announcement does not say whether the September segment will focus on story, exploration, combat, or a new trailer, so those details should be treated as unknown until the stream airs.

What is State of Play Japan?
State of Play Japan is the second broadcast on September 3. Sony describes it as a deeper look at upcoming games from studios in Japan and across Asia, with new gameplay, announcements, and other updates.
Yuki Kaji will host the episode again. Kaji is a Japanese voice actor known internationally for roles including Eren Yeager in Attack on Titan and Shoto Todoroki in My Hero Academia. His return gives the Japan-focused presentation a familiar face, but Sony has not identified the games he will introduce.
The regional focus does not mean the show will be limited to games that are only available in Japan. It describes where the featured studios are based, while the broadcast remains part of the wider PlayStation news schedule.
