Australian GTA Online players can still enter the Diamond Casino, but its gambling activities are now unavailable. Reports began appearing on July 27 after players saw a message saying the feature was not available in their region.

Rockstar Games has not published an announcement, support notice, or patch note explaining the change. That makes one distinction important from the start: the restriction is visible to players, but the reason behind it has not been officially confirmed.

What Australian Players Can No Longer Use

The affected activities reportedly include blackjack, roulette, slot machines, Three Card Poker, Inside Track horse racing, and the Lucky Wheel. Community dataminer Tez2 found a new geographic restriction for Australia in the game's data, according to VICE's report.

Players are reporting that the building itself remains open. The penthouse, Casino Story Missions, and Diamond Casino Heist also appear to remain available because they are missions and property content rather than casino games. Rockstar has not confirmed that full list, so the exact limits may become clearer after more players test each activity.

The separation matters because some people saw the headline and assumed the entire casino or heist had been removed. Current reports point to a narrower block. Australian players can visit the location and use non-gambling content, but they cannot place virtual bets or spin the Lucky Wheel.

Rockstar has used regional casino restrictions since the Diamond Casino opened in 2019. Players in countries with different gambling rules have long received the same unavailable message. Australia appears to have joined that list after years of local access, which explains why the change surprised regular players.

Rockstar Has Not Explained the Australian Change

Australia now gives games with simulated casino gambling an R18+ classification. GTA Online received an R18+ classification in Australia on July 22. Separate online-safety rules also require age assurance for access to certain adult online services, including steps by companies to confirm that users are adults.

Those rules provide context, but no Australian agency has publicly said it ordered Rockstar to disable GTA Online's casino games. Rockstar has not said whether the block is connected to the new classification, age assurance, a broader gambling review, or an internal compliance decision. Presenting one of those explanations as fact would go beyond the available evidence.

The use of fictional chips also makes the discussion more complicated than a normal online casino. GTA dollars can be purchased with real money, but Rockstar restricts which funds can be converted into casino chips, and winnings cannot be withdrawn as real money. Regulators and publishers can still treat casino-style play differently depending on the country.

Player reactions have focused on the timing as much as the restriction. The casino opened seven years ago, and Australian users had access throughout that period. Losing it without advance notice makes the change feel sudden even for people who rarely gamble in the game, because the Lucky Wheel and casino games were part of their normal visits to the location.

The immediate frustration is the lack of communication. A feature available since 2019 disappeared for an entire country, and players had to compare error messages and game data to understand what changed. A short Rockstar support post could clarify whether the block is permanent, temporary, or something that may return after age verification.

Nothing about this change confirms how gambling will work in GTA 6 or a future online mode. For GTA Online, the practical answer is simpler: Australian players currently cannot use the Diamond Casino's betting games, while the heist and other non-gambling content appear to remain. Rockstar still needs to explain why.
