Ransom Canyon will not return for Season 3. Netflix has canceled the romantic Western after two seasons, with the decision first reported on September 10. Both seasons remain available to stream.
Season 2 arrived on July 23 and ran for eight episodes. The cancellation leaves the series at 18 episodes in total and ends the story less than two months after its latest season premiered.
Is Ransom Canyon Season 3 happening?
No. Netflix is not moving forward with a third season. The streamer has not posted a public explanation for the decision, and there is no reported plan for a wrap-up movie or a move to another service.
The news is especially rough for viewers who finished Season 2. Netflix’s own guide acknowledged that the finale left several questions open and told fans to wait for word on another chapter. That chapter is no longer planned.
Why did Netflix cancel Ransom Canyon?
Netflix has not said why. The audience numbers give some context, but they do not confirm what decided the show’s fate.
Season 2 opened with 4.1 million views during its first four days on the global English-language TV chart. Season 1 drew 7.2 million views over the same part of its launch week in April 2025, so the return started about 43% lower.
The second season did improve in week two, reaching 5.5 million views and the No. 2 spot. It stayed in the global Top 10 for three weeks, one week fewer than the first season. Those are the only public performance figures available. Netflix has not shared the show’s cost, completion rate, or its internal reason for canceling it.

Who starred in Ransom Canyon?
Josh Duhamel led the series as Staten Kirkland, a rancher fighting to protect his family’s land. Minka Kelly played Quinn O’Grady, a pianist and dance hall owner whose relationship with Staten carried much of the show’s romance.
Lizzy Greene and Garrett Wareing also returned as Lauren Brigman and Lucas Russell. Season 2 added Patricia Clarkson, Ben Robson, Heidi Grace Engerman, and Steve Howey to a cast spread across the town’s ranches, families, and love triangles.

Can you still watch Ransom Canyon?
Yes. Netflix still carries both seasons: ten episodes from Season 1 and eight from Season 2. The show is based on Jodi Thomas’s Ransom Canyon books, although the television version used the novels as a starting point rather than copying every plot.
There is no announced continuation elsewhere. Unless that changes, the Season 2 finale is the last television episode of Ransom Canyon.
