Diablo fans are trying to solve two rumors before Blizzard takes the BlizzCon stage: Baal as the next major villain and a ranged class that looks like a Demon Hunter. Both ideas come from unverified images circulating online. Blizzard has confirmed neither one.
Why do fans think Baal is returning?
One image claims Diablo IV is getting something called Reign of Destruction. Baal is the Lord of Destruction, so fans quickly connected the title to the Prime Evil defeated in Diablo II: Lord of Destruction.
The image has no verified Blizzard source. People examining it have also flagged uneven lettering and a distorted BlizzCon logo. It may be a real promotional image, a fan edit, or an AI-made fake. There is not enough evidence to call it a leak.
Baal did return in Diablo Immortal during an official limited-time event in August. That event ended September 1 and does not confirm a Baal story for Diablo IV.
Why are people expecting a new ranged class?
The same set of images appears to show a character holding a small crossbow or gun. Some fans see a Demon Hunter, the fast ranged class from Diablo III. Others are simply calling it a new ranged class because the picture is too blurry to identify the character.
The theory started before these images appeared. In May, players noticed a Hand Crossbow category in Diablo IV’s loot filter. It could be preparation for future gear, leftover data, or an unused label. A menu entry is not a class announcement.
What has Blizzard actually confirmed?
Blizzard has promised major Diablo announcements during today’s opening ceremony. The schedule also includes a Diablo developer update this afternoon and a Diablo IV: What’s Next panel on Sunday.
Diablo IV’s latest expansion, Lord of Hatred, launched in April with a campaign centered on Mephisto. It added the Paladin and Warlock. Blizzard has not announced the title, villain, or class for another expansion.
Would a Demon Hunter fit Diablo IV?
A dedicated Demon Hunter would be familiar and easy to market, but Diablo IV already lets Rogues fight with bows and crossbows. Blizzard could bring the old class back, create a different ranged fighter, or leave the current lineup alone.
The rumor is easy to understand: “Destruction” points to Baal, and the weapon in the image looks ranged. The evidence behind it is still unverified. A Blizzard trailer or official post is the first proof worth trusting. Would you rather see Baal return or get a new ranged class?
