Pick Cozy Grove if you like a few new tasks each day. Pick Spiritfarer if you want to keep playing for longer. Both let you care for spirits and build a place for them, but they give you very different ways to spend your time.
We’re comparing the original Cozy Grove with Spiritfarer: Farewell Edition. Cozy Grove: Camp Spirit is a different game.
The main differences
Cozy Grove: help the bears on an island, then fish, make things or decorate. There are only so many new quests each day.
Spiritfarer: sail to new places, build rooms on your boat and look after the spirits who live there. You can keep moving through the story as you play.
Playing together: Cozy Grove is for one player. Spiritfarer lets two people play on the same screen. One plays Stella; the other plays her cat, Daffodil.

Cozy Grove is easy to come back to each day
In Cozy Grove, you’re a scout on a haunted island. Talk to the bears, find things they need and help them remember their lives. As you help, parts of the island fill with color.
You get a set of new quests each day. Once those are done, you can still fish, make things and decorate your campsite. You don’t have to stop playing, but you may need to wait until another day for the next part of a bear’s story.
A new day starts at 5 a.m. on your device. If you miss a week, the story won’t skip ahead by seven days. Seasons and some events still follow the calendar, though, so a break can change what you find when you return.
Choose it if you enjoy checking in, seeing familiar characters and adding a little more to your campsite. It suits that kind of routine better than a long stretch of new story quests.

Spiritfarer gives you more to do in one sitting
You play Stella, who looks after spirits on a boat. You learn their stories, feed them and help them move on when it’s time to say goodbye.
Between conversations, you cook, fish, farm, mine and make things. You also build rooms on the boat and sail to new places. If you want to keep playing, there are other jobs to work on as you continue the trip.
That makes it a good choice if you want to spend more time with the story at once. Just be ready for sad moments. You grow close to the spirits, and saying goodbye is part of the game.

Which is better for decorating?
In Cozy Grove, you make decorations and put them around your campsite. In Spiritfarer, you build and arrange rooms on a boat. Those rooms also give the spirits places to live and give you places to cook, grow food and do other jobs.
Choose Cozy Grove if you like slowly making an island feel like home. Choose Spiritfarer if you like building a home that travels with you. For more choices, see our cozy games for decorating.
Which should you choose?
Cozy Grove is the better fit for a few new tasks each day and a campsite you can keep adding to. Spiritfarer is the better fit for a longer adventure, a boat to build and a story you can share with a second player.
Both have sweet moments and sad ones. If you’d rather spend your time walking, taking pictures or sorting things, our cozy games without farming list has more ideas.
