Black Ops II Zombies is available again on PS4 and PS5, but buying the base game does not unlock every Zombies map.
The base release gives you the original Green Run experience, including TranZit and its Survival and Grief locations. The Season Pass is a separate purchase that adds four DLC packs, four major Zombies maps, Nuketown Zombies, and the Turned mode included with Revolution.
If you mainly want Mob of the Dead, Buried, Origins, or Die Rise, check the map list before buying.
Every Black Ops 2 Zombies map on PS5
The full Zombies collection is divided like this:
- Base game: Green Run, TranZit, Bus Depot, Farm, and Town.
- Revolution: Die Rise and Turned.
- Uprising: Mob of the Dead.
- Vengeance: Buried.
- Apocalypse: Origins.
- Season Pass bonus: Nuketown Zombies.
Some names describe a larger area while others describe a mode or section inside it. TranZit moves through Green Run and connects several familiar locations by bus. Bus Depot, Farm, and Town can also be used in smaller Survival or Grief matches.
What comes with the base game?
The base Black Ops II purchase includes the main Zombies experience built around Green Run.
TranZit is the largest version. Players ride a bus between locations, gather parts, build equipment, turn on the power, and follow a larger Easter egg route while fog and lava make travel dangerous.
Survival removes the bus journey and places the group in a smaller location for a more traditional round-based match. The goal is simple: survive as long as possible.
Grief is a competitive Zombies mode where two groups share the same area. Players cannot directly kill the other team with normal weapons, but they can interfere while the Zombies pressure everyone. The last surviving team wins.
The base game does not include the four major DLC Zombies maps.
Revolution: Die Rise and Turned
Revolution is the first DLC pack. Its main Zombies map is Die Rise.
Die Rise takes place across damaged skyscrapers in a ruined Chinese city. Vertical movement is a major part of the map, with elevators, gaps, and dangerous drops shaping every route. The map also introduces its own buildables and Wonder Weapon.
Revolution also includes Turned, a mode that lets players take control of Zombies and chase the lone human survivor. It is a smaller competitive mode rather than a full story map.
For multiplayer, Revolution adds Downhill, Hydro, Mirage, and Grind, plus the Peacekeeper weapon.
Uprising: Mob of the Dead
Uprising includes Mob of the Dead, one of the best-known Zombies maps in the series.
The map is set on Alcatraz and follows four mobsters trying to escape an island overrun by the undead. It introduces Afterlife, which lets a player temporarily move through the environment as a spirit, activate equipment, and reach places that are blocked in normal form.
Mob of the Dead has a strong story, a detailed Easter egg, and a full escape route built around constructing a plane. It works best when the group understands who is collecting each part and how Afterlife charges will be used.
Uprising also includes the multiplayer maps Magma, Encore, Vertigo, and Studio.
Vengeance: Buried
Vengeance adds Buried, a Zombies map set in an underground Old West town.
Buried gives players more room to experiment with buildables and introduces a friendly giant who can open paths or help move objects when given the correct item. The map also includes the Paralyzer and the Ray Gun Mark II.
The layout is easier to understand than TranZit once the main routes are open, but the Easter egg still needs planning. A group should decide which side of the quest it is following before spending too many rounds preparing.
Vengeance includes the multiplayer maps Cove, Detour, Rush, and Uplink.
Apocalypse: Origins
Apocalypse is the fourth and final DLC pack. Its Zombies map is Origins.
Origins returns to the four original Zombies heroes during World War I. The map has trenches, giant robots, generators, elemental staffs, and a long Easter egg that rewards careful preparation.
Players need to learn several systems at once, including staff parts, upgrade steps, robot paths, and generator control. Origins is one of the most complicated maps in Black Ops II, so a first run should focus on learning the layout rather than finishing everything.
Apocalypse also adds the multiplayer maps Frost, Pod, Dig, and Takeoff.
Where does Nuketown Zombies come from?
Nuketown Zombies is included as a Season Pass bonus on the new PlayStation listing.
It is a separate Zombies version of Nuketown rather than the normal Nuketown 2025 multiplayer map. Perk machines and Pack-a-Punch arrive during the match instead of appearing in fixed positions from the first round, which makes every game less predictable.
If Nuketown Zombies does not appear after buying the Season Pass, check that every add-on has been downloaded from the game’s PlayStation Store page.
What is included in the Black Ops 2 Season Pass?
The PS4 and PS5 Season Pass includes:
- Revolution.
- Uprising.
- Vengeance.
- Apocalypse.
- Nuketown Zombies.
- The Deuce calling card for multiplayer.
The Season Pass is sold separately from the base game. On the US PlayStation Store, its normal price is $29.99.
At the time of writing, PlayStation Plus members can buy it for $9.89, with the offer scheduled to end on August 6, 2026, at 4:59 PM UTC. Prices and sale dates can change, so check the store before buying.
The base game is also required. Buying the Season Pass by itself does not give you Black Ops II.
Which DLC should you play first?
Start with the base TranZit experience if you are new to Black Ops II. It teaches the buildable system, power, perks, and the style of longer Easter egg routes used throughout the game.
Mob of the Dead is a good first DLC map for players who want a strong story and a focused location. Buried is easier to explore once its main paths are open. Die Rise is more punishing because falling can end a run. Origins has the most systems to learn and works better after the group is comfortable with Black Ops II mechanics.
A simple order is:
- TranZit.
- Mob of the Dead.
- Buried.
- Die Rise.
- Origins.
This is not the story order. It is a learning route that moves from the base systems into more complicated maps.
How to install the Zombies DLC on PS5
After buying the Season Pass, open the Black Ops II product page or the game’s Manage Game Content menu.
Download each DLC pack separately if it is not already installed. The Season Pass gives access to the packs, but the maps may still need their own download.
Restart the game after the installation finishes. Then open Zombies and check that Die Rise, Mob of the Dead, Buried, Origins, and Nuketown Zombies appear.
If a map is still missing:
- Confirm that you are using the PlayStation account that purchased the content.
- Restore licenses from the PlayStation account settings.
- Check Manage Game Content for an unfinished download.
- Confirm that the base game and DLC are from compatible regions.
- Restart the console after every pack finishes installing.
Do not buy the Season Pass again if the store already shows it as owned.
Can PS4 and PS5 players play Zombies together?
The PlayStation release supports cross-generation multiplayer between PS4 and PS5 players. That includes the shared PlayStation player pool used by online modes.
There is no cross-platform multiplayer with Xbox or PC.
Everyone in the group needs access to the same DLC map. A player with only the base game cannot join a Mob of the Dead, Buried, Origins, or Die Rise lobby without the required pack.
Does buying DLC affect matchmaking?
Extra multiplayer maps can divide matchmaking pools when some players own the DLC and others do not. Zombies is simpler because the group chooses a specific map, but every player still needs access to it.
If multiplayer matchmaking becomes slow after installing the packs, check whether the game lets you search without DLC maps or temporarily disable the add-ons. Options can vary by version, so confirm the current menu before uninstalling anything.
