The launch roster contains 20 characters arranged in five original teams: Fighting Avengers, Unbreakable X-Men, Amazing Guardians, Knights of Doom, and Samurai Outriders. Team composition matters because every character has a distinct move set and assist type. Stages draw from Marvel locations including New York, Wakanda, Knowhere, the X-Mansion, the Savage Land, and Asgard.

Offline options include the tutorial-style Start Up Battle, Training, Versus matches against another local player or the CPU, and Episode Mode. Episode Mode tells original team stories through motion-comic sequences and battles. Online play adds Casual and Ranked matches, private Room Matches, cross-play between PS5 and PC, and an open lobby with avatars and arcade cabinets.

The game released August 6, 2026, on PlayStation 5 and PC through Steam and Epic Games Store. PS Plus is required for online play on PS5, while offline modes remain available without it. Standard, Digital Deluxe, and Ultimate editions are current; preorder-only bonuses are no longer presented here.
