About the game

How to Fish is a physics-driven fishing, combat, and co-op game from Dazed Games. A boating trip ends with the players stranded on a small island, and the route home becomes a chain of fishing jobs, creature fights, equipment upgrades, boss trophies, and boat trips to increasingly dangerous islands. The official loop is simple to describe and deliberately chaotic in practice: catch fish, defeat them, sell or use what you caught, improve your rods and weapons, complete local quests, and use each island boss to open the next part of the journey. Fishing is tied to bait and lure selection. Regular catches, rarer Drip variants, optional boss creatures, and story targets all use different parts of the lure pool. Fish are not just collectibles. They can be sold for money, cooked to improve their value, eaten to restore the player, gambled for cosmetic rewards, or used as quest and boss bait. Weapons range from basic melee tools to firearms, while trick-shot multipliers reward stylish kills with higher value. The main story progresses through five island stages. The route begins with the Spider Crab near the lighthouse, continues through the Giant Piranha and Pufferfish, then uses a Tuna to attract the Albatross before the final Bowhead Whale sequence. The game also has 28 Steam achievements covering story progress, collection, Drip variants, weapon attachments, cooking, roulette, trick shots, boss challenges, and a one-hour completion run. How to Fish can be played alone or in online co-op. The Steam store launched with a one-to-four-player description, but Dazed Games expanded lobbies to support up to eight players in Patch 1.0.4. Later patches added private invite-only sessions, Easy and Hard settings, stronger save-file checks, one-minute autosaves, and persistence for up to 64 dropped items. The game is available for Windows PC through Steam and supports full controllers, PlayStation controller glyphs, Steam achievements, Family Sharing, and save-anytime controls.
