Diablo is Blizzard Entertainment’s dark fantasy action RPG franchise, first released in 1996. Its games take place in Sanctuary, a mortal realm trapped in the conflict between the High Heavens and Burning Hells. Players choose character classes, descend into dungeons, combine skills and equipment into builds, and hunt increasingly powerful loot. The series includes Diablo, Diablo II, Diablo III, Diablo IV, and the mobile and PC title Diablo Immortal, alongside remasters and expansions. Stories share the same world and recurring threats, but each entry follows different heroes and crises rather than one permanent player character. Sanctuary was created by the demon Lilith and the angel Inarius as a refuge from the war between Heaven and Hell. Their connection to the world is part of Diablo IV's central conflict. The player takes the role of the Wanderer, whose encounters with Lilith draw them into a struggle that reaches beyond individual dungeon bosses. Diablo IV separates Seasonal and Eternal characters. Joining a new season means creating a character on the Seasonal Realm; when that season ends, the character moves to the Eternal Realm rather than being deleted. This lets players keep an established hero while starting another for a new seasonal progression.
