One Piece has finished its 2026 anime run. Episode 1180 aired in Japan on September 27, and the official account confirmed that the next new episode will not arrive until 2027. No month or exact date has been announced.
The pause applies to the television anime. It does not mean the manga is ending, and it is not a cancellation of the Elbaph arc. The anime is following the production calendar introduced for 2026: two parts per year, with a maximum of 26 new episodes.
When will the One Piece anime return?
The only confirmed window is 2027. The announcement after Episode 1180 told viewers to wait for more information about the broadcast period, so January, spring, and later dates are all unconfirmed.
“The next episode airs in 2027. Please wait for more details on the broadcast period.”
That leaves the final three months of 2026 without another new episode. Once the date is set, regional streaming services may announce their own schedules separately.
Why is One Piece stopping after Episode 1180?
This break is part of a planned change, not a last-minute production shutdown. Toei Animation announced that the series would move away from an almost nonstop weekly schedule beginning in 2026. Each year is now split into two cours, or broadcast blocks, with no more than 26 new episodes.
The studio also said the new approach would remove recap episodes from that count and let the anime adapt roughly one manga chapter per episode. The goal is a denser version of the story with more production time behind each block.
Older One Piece viewers are used to the anime staying on television through most of the year. The 2026 model makes the gap more visible, but it also tells fans where the break came from before rumors fill the space.
Is the Elbaph arc over?
No. Episode 1180 is the end of the 2026 broadcast block, not the end of Elbaph. The episode leaves the anime in the middle of the island’s conflict, and the next stretch will continue that story in 2027.
Fans who want to continue immediately can move to the manga, but anime-only viewers do not need to treat the break as a finale. The production schedule was designed around stopping and returning between cours.
Does the break affect the One Piece manga?
The manga has its own Weekly Shonen Jump schedule and is separate from the television production calendar. Manga breaks can still happen, but the anime’s 2027 return announcement does not place the comic on the same pause.
Fans are still waiting for the exact 2027 broadcast date. Until Toei or the official franchise accounts provide it, any narrower window is a guess.
