HoYoverse has revealed Nodusfall, a cooperative fantasy action game that sends squads into a world shaped by multiple mythologies. The game made its global debut during Gamescom 2026 Opening Night Live on August 25.

Players take the role of Weavers, form a party with companions, and fight legendary creatures corrupted by a force called the Dreadnodus. The first footage shows large-scale battles, ruined landscapes, and a progression loop built around Divine Skills, weapons, and relics.

HoYoverse has not announced platforms, a release date or launch window, a business model, or the number of players supported in a squad. Pre-registration is open on the official Nodusfall website, but no beta schedule has been confirmed.

Nodusfall gives HoYoverse a more realistic visual direction

HoYoverse describes Nodusfall as a multi-mythology co-op action game rendered in a realistic art style. The reveal uses natural human proportions, detailed armor, weathered stone, and large environments instead of the cel-shaded presentation seen in several of the company’s established games.

The official announcement calls Nodusfall an action game. It does not call it an RPG. Character builds, unlockable Skills, and weapon progression are confirmed, but those systems alone are not enough to assign a more specific genre before HoYoverse does.

The world draws from multiple mythologies

Nodusfall is not based on a single pantheon. HoYoverse says the setting takes inspiration from mythological traditions around the world, while its landscape, civilizations, and divine order follow a consistent internal logic.

The announcement points to beasts rooted in eastern folklore and colossal dragons associated with catastrophe. New regions are planned to introduce distinct ecosystems, cultures, and histories as the journey expands. HoYoverse has not yet named the individual mythologies, nations, or cultures represented in the game, so more specific claims would be premature.

The Dreadnodus drives the story

The story begins after divine authority and order have collapsed. A mysterious Dreadnodus spreads catastrophe across the land, corrupts legendary beings, and pushes the world toward ruin.

The player enters this broken world as a Weaver, a figure shaped and awakened by the essence of creation. Weavers travel with powerful companions, confront the corrupted creatures, reclaim lost divinity, uncover the history of the world, and try to sever the Dreadnodus at its source.

Co-op combat is built around Styles, Skills, and openings

HoYoverse says players will form a squad with companions and adjust their approach to both the enemy and the needs of the team. Characters can use different combat Styles and Skill combinations. The official feature overview also says players can switch roles and loadouts at will as an encounter changes.

The reveal confirms four parts of the combat and progression loop:

  • Squads fight massive creatures drawn from mythology.
  • Combat Styles and Skill combinations can be customized, while roles and loadouts can be switched to suit the fight.
  • Teams pressure enemies and use openings to deliver stronger attacks.
  • Defeated creatures provide resources for new Skills and weapons, while Divine Skills and stronger relics expand character builds.

The announcement does not explain matchmaking, solo support, artificial-intelligence companions, cross-play, or the maximum squad size. The footage establishes coordinated combat, but it does not answer how players enter or maintain a group.

What HoYoverse has not announced

  • Platforms — no console, PC, or mobile versions are confirmed.
  • Release timing — there is no date or launch window.
  • Business model — pricing and monetization have not been detailed.
  • Online features — squad size, cross-play, account requirements, and solo options remain unknown.

The official reveal is an announcement rather than a full systems presentation. Store pages, technical requirements, editions, and testing dates should not be assumed until HoYoverse publishes them.

Is the name Nodus Fall or Nodusfall?

The official title is Nodusfall, written as one word. “Nodus Fall” appears as a spaced search phrase and informal spelling, but HoYoverse uses Nodusfall across the official website, trailer, and announcement. The story term Dreadnodus is also written as one word.

Nodusfall pre-registration is open

HoYoverse has opened pre-registration through the official Nodusfall website. The site also directs prospective players to follow its official channels for future beta access. No beta schedule, eligibility rules, platforms, or release window have been announced.

The next meaningful update needs to clarify where Nodusfall will launch and show how a complete co-op encounter works from party formation through rewards. Until then, the confirmed picture is narrower: a realistic fantasy action game, a world built from several mythological traditions, customizable team combat, and no announced release timing.
