Netflix has released the first teaser for its new Pride and Prejudice series, putting Emma Corrin and Jack Lowden in front of the camera as Elizabeth Bennet and Mr. Darcy. The six-part adaptation is scheduled to premiere in 2026, but Netflix has not announced an exact date.

Dolly Alderton is writing the series, with Euros Lyn directing. The early footage keeps the story recognizable while giving the cast and the setting a fresh look. For anyone who has seen several versions of Jane Austen’s novel, the immediate question is not whether the story will change completely. It is whether this cast can make the familiar arguments feel alive again.

Who are Emma Corrin and Jack Lowden playing?

Corrin plays Elizabeth Bennet, the second Bennet sister whose sharp opinions often get her into trouble. Lowden plays Fitzwilliam Darcy, the wealthy landowner whose first impression is almost as bad as his manners. Their relationship drives the novel: both characters have to recognize how quickly they judge each other before the romance can move forward.

Netflix’s teaser introduces them as the center of the new version rather than hiding the pairing behind a large ensemble. Corrin’s Elizabeth is shown alone in an open landscape, while the announcement identifies Lowden as Darcy. The series is still keeping most of the plot under wraps, so the casting is doing much of the early work.

The choice of Corrin gives the role to an actor known for playing characters who can look composed while something more complicated is happening underneath. Lowden brings a different kind of restraint to Darcy, which should help the character avoid becoming only a cold romantic lead. Those are early impressions, not a verdict on the performances, but the pairing is clear enough to start the conversation.

Who else is in Netflix’s Pride and Prejudice cast?

Olivia Colman plays Mrs. Bennet, while Rufus Sewell plays Mr. Bennet. Freya Mavor is Jane Bennet, Rhea Norwood is Lydia Bennet, Hopey Parish is Mary Bennet, and Hollie Avery is Kitty Bennet. The family lineup gives the adaptation a recognizable center before the rest of Hertfordshire comes into the story.

The supporting cast includes Daryl McCormack as Mr. Bingley, Louis Partridge as Mr. Wickham, Siena Kelly as Caroline Bingley, and Jamie Demetriou as Mr. Collins. Fiona Shaw plays Lady Catherine de Bourgh. Netflix has also cast Anjana Vasan, Sebastian Armesto, Rosie Cavaliero, Saffron Coomber, James Dryden, Justin Edwards, and others in roles from Austen’s social circle.

That is a large cast for a six-part season, but Pride and Prejudice needs one. The story moves through family visits, dances, proposals, rumors, and old resentments, and each supporting character changes the pressure around Elizabeth and Darcy. The new series will have room to let those relationships develop instead of rushing from one famous scene to the next.

Is this a remake of the original movie or a new story?

It is a new television adaptation of Jane Austen’s 1813 novel, not a sequel to an earlier film or series. Alderton and Lyn are working from the same source material that has inspired versions from the BBC, the 2005 film starring Keira Knightley and Matthew Macfadyen, and many other adaptations.

Netflix says the production is aiming to stay close to Austen’s text while making the characters accessible to viewers who have not read the book. That leaves room for familiar lines and situations, but the six-episode format can spend more time on the Bennet family, the social rules around marriage, and the misunderstandings that keep Elizabeth and Darcy apart.

When will Netflix release Pride and Prejudice?

Netflix has only confirmed a 2026 release window. There is no month, day, episode rollout plan, or trailer schedule yet. The series is listed as a six-part, TV-PG British production, and Netflix’s official announcement says more details will follow.

Netflix is also filling its upcoming slate with new and returning series. For another current release update, see our guide to The Gentlemen Season 2 and its already-confirmed third season.

For now, the useful details are the ones Netflix has actually shown: Emma Corrin is Elizabeth Bennet, Jack Lowden is Mr. Darcy, Olivia Colman leads the Bennet family, and the adaptation will run for six episodes in 2026. The release date can wait. The casting gives this version enough shape to judge once a full trailer arrives.
