Who is Deborah Wayne?
Maleah Joi Moon plays Deborah, a freshman trying to settle into Hillman while deciding what kind of person she wants to be. Which original cast members are returning?
Kadeem Hardison and Jasmine Guy are returning as Dwayne Wayne and Whitley Gilbert, Deborah’s parents. Debbie Allen is also back as Dr. Langhorne, the Hillman figure who helped define the original show. Allen directed 83 episodes of the sitcom and served as a producer on 122, so her return is both in front of and behind the camera.
Darryl M. Bell returns as Ron Johnson, and the returning guest cast includes Cree Summer, Jenifer Lewis, and Jada Pinkett Smith. The trailer also teases appearances from singer Summer Walker and rapper-actor Cliff “Method Man” Smith. Netflix has not said how many episodes each returning performer will appear in.
