Sweet Magnolias will not return for Season 6. Netflix has ended the drama after five seasons and 50 episodes, and the show’s official account now describes the series as complete.
Season 5 premiered June 11 and now serves as the final chapter for Maddie, Dana Sue, Helen, and the rest of Serenity. Netflix has not announced a farewell special or an additional season.
Why did Netflix cancel Sweet Magnolias?

The announcement does show that Netflix wants to keep working with some of the team. Showrunner Sheryl J. Anderson and JoAnna Garcia Swisher are developing Ladies of the House, based on Lauren Edmondson’s novel.
Is Ladies of the House a Sweet Magnolias spinoff?
No. Ladies of the House is a separate family drama about a winery after its owner dies. His wife and two adult daughters are left to deal with the business and one another. Garcia Swisher is attached as an executive producer and is being considered for a starring role, but she would not be playing Maddie Townsend.
