Jefferson White will return as Jimmy Hurdstrom in Marshals Season 2. The Yellowstone actor has joined the CBS series in a recurring role, bringing another familiar character into Kayce Dutton’s story.
Season 2 premieres Sunday, October 4. CBS will air the episode from 8:30 to 9:30 p.m. ET and from 8 to 9 p.m. PT. It will also stream on Paramount+.
Jimmy has changed since his Yellowstone debut
Jimmy first appeared as a troubled young man who was given a chance to work at the Yellowstone ranch. He struggled with the job, the horses and the rules, but slowly became a capable cowboy. His time at the Four Sixes ranch gave him confidence and a life beyond the problems that brought him to John Dutton.
White is now carrying that history into a different series. “I’m thrilled to dive into the world of MARSHALS and continue exploring the American West,” the actor said in the announcement.
CBS has not explained how Jimmy meets Kayce again or how many episodes will include him. The recurring role means his return is larger than a single guest appearance, but viewers will have to wait for the season to learn what brings him into the U.S. Marshals story.
Kayce leads the Marshals team
Luke Grimes stars as Kayce Dutton, who joins an elite U.S. Marshals unit in Montana. His work as a cowboy and former Navy SEAL gives him experience that fits dangerous cases across the state.
The unit includes Pete Calvin, played by Logan Marshall-Green; Belle Skinner, played by Arielle Kebbel; Andrea Cruz, played by Ash Santos; and Miles Kittle, played by Tatanka Means. The series keeps its Western setting while moving Kayce away from ranch life and into federal law enforcement.
Jimmy’s return gives the new season a direct connection to an earlier part of Kayce’s life. The two men did not share every Yellowstone storyline, but they both changed under the pressure of the ranch and the Dutton family.
The Yellowstone team remains behind the spinoff
Marshals is produced by Paramount Television Studios and 101 Studios. Taylor Sheridan, David Glasser, John Linson, Art Linson, Spencer Hudnut, Ron Burkle, David Hutkin, Bob Yari, Michael Friedman, Luke Grimes and Keith Cox serve as executive producers. Hudnut is also the showrunner.
White’s return is the biggest new link between Marshals and Yellowstone announced for Season 2 so far. It also gives Jimmy another chapter after his move to Texas and the future that seemed settled when viewers last spent time with him.
Marshals Season 2 begins October 4 on CBS and Paramount+.
