Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance is giving every one of the game’s 14 weapon types a Boosted Action through the new Boost Bracer. Capcom released the system overview and Great Sword breakdown on September 2, then scheduled one weapon video per day through September 15. Great Sword can fling forward with a Boost Driver, add explosions to charged slashes, and chain offset attacks.
This page is the running tracker for the complete series. It will keep the confirmed actions together as Capcom publishes them, without turning each short clip into a separate thin article. Until a weapon receives its own official breakdown, its entry remains marked as pending rather than filling the gap with guesses from overview footage.

How the Boost Bracer works
Capcom describes Boost as a temporary combat state rather than a permanent passive bonus. Attacking aggressively builds Boost Bracer energy. The hunter then activates Boost through a powerful Boost Driver attack or another action unique to the equipped weapon. While Boost is active, that weapon gains its own combination of new routes, enhanced attacks, movement, defense, or follow-ups.
That distinction matters because the bracer is not one universal damage button pasted onto every moveset. The official overview moves rapidly between different weapons to show that each uses the system in its own way. Capcom has not published complete frame data, damage values, durations, cooldowns, or final balance numbers, so those details should not be treated as fixed before release.

Great Sword Boosted Actions explained
Great Sword is the first weapon with a dedicated breakdown, and its three confirmed changes all reduce the amount of time the hunter spends waiting for the right position. The weapon still revolves around large commitments and charged hits, but Boost adds a way to close distance and continue pressure inside that heavy rhythm.
- Fling forward with the Boost Driver: the activation itself propels the hunter toward the target, so entering Boost can also solve a spacing problem.
- Unleash explosive charged slashes: charged Great Sword attacks gain an added explosive finish while boosted.
- Chain together offset attacks: offset attacks can continue into a sequence instead of functioning only as isolated counters.
Capcom also tells experienced players to watch for actions that have changed outside the Boost state. That means the expansion is not presenting every new animation as a bracer-only move. The daily videos should help separate permanent moveset changes from actions that require Boost energy.

The Great Sword breakdown is available now. The remaining 13 weapons are officially scheduled to receive daily videos by September 15, but Capcom has not published a fixed weapon-by-weapon order and warns that dates can change. Pending entries below are therefore not assigned invented dates.

Ascendance Boosted Actions and hunters
4 screenshotsWhen a new clip arrives, watch for three separate layers: the move that activates Boost, the actions available during the temporary Boost state, and any moves Capcom says were changed outside Boost. Keeping those layers separate prevents a flashy animation from being mislabeled as a permanent moveset change. It also makes the tracker useful to players comparing weapons before Capcom publishes full controls or balance data.
Why the daily breakdowns matter
A short multi-weapon overview can show the scale of a system, but it cannot explain inputs, conditions, or how a move connects to each weapon’s familiar loop. The individual breakdowns are the useful part for players deciding whether their main weapon feels meaningfully different. They also create a clean boundary between what Capcom confirms and what viewers infer from a few seconds of footage.
For each new video, the tracker will record only named actions and plainly demonstrated behavior. It will not publish assumed motion values, optimal combos, tier-list judgments, or build advice before the expansion is playable. Those questions require either official data or a release build.
How Boosted Actions fit Ascendance
Ascendance is a large paid expansion that continues the Monster Hunter Wilds story and introduces Master Rank quests. Capcom says it also adds new Eastlands areas, new monsters, elder-dragon threats, and additional hunter actions. The Boost Bracer is the combat system connecting those harder encounters to the existing 14-weapon roster.
Players do not start Ascendance from a fresh standalone menu. Steam lists the base game as required, and Capcom says the 7-star assignment Awaking From a Dream in Chapter 6-1 must be completed first. Finishing that assignment is therefore the practical preparation step before worrying about a Boosted Action build.
Ascendance release date and platforms
Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance is scheduled for 2027 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Windows PC through Steam. Capcom has not announced a day, month, price, preorder package, or edition comparison. A 2027 store label is a window, not a confirmed exact date.
The expansion will receive its first public hands-on at Tokyo Game Show 2026. That demo can reveal how the bracer feels in motion, but a trade-show build should not be treated as final balance or final performance data.
What Capcom has not confirmed yet
- Daily weapon order: only Great Sword is confirmed as the first breakdown; the remaining order is not fixed publicly.
- Exact release date: only 2027 is official.
- Price and editions: not announced.
- Final balance numbers: damage values, durations, cooldowns, and build efficiency are not final public data.
- Public demo availability outside TGS: not announced.
Monster Hunter Wilds Ascendance FAQ
Does every weapon get a Boosted Action?
Yes. Capcom says the Boost Bracer expands the abilities of all 14 weapon types. The exact effect is weapon-specific, which is why each weapon is receiving a separate breakdown video.
Which Ascendance weapon video is available now?
Great Sword is the first dedicated breakdown, released September 2 with the general Boosted Action overview. The remaining 13 weapon videos are scheduled daily through September 15.
Do I need Monster Hunter Wilds to play Ascendance?
Yes. Ascendance requires Monster Hunter Wilds, and Capcom lists completion of the 7-star assignment Awaking From a Dream as the story requirement for entering the expansion.
The Monster Hunter Wilds game hub keeps the base-game release, platforms, official trailers, gallery, and future Ascendance coverage together.
