Marathon Update 1.1.9 is live now. It cuts four C.A.R.R.I. Armory prices, adds a Superior Shield Implant and Superior Backpack with a weekly acquisition limit, expands Rook inventory through the end of Season 2, brings Sponsored Night Marsh back, and repairs progression problems in contracts, Codex challenges, and Cryo Archive.

Update 1.1.9 at a glance

  • Status: released September 1, 2026.
  • C.A.R.R.I.: two Superior items were added and four existing prices were reduced.

Every C.A.R.R.I. price change

The patch lowers four prices measured in CyberAcme Commendations. The old number is listed first so players can see exactly how much cheaper each offer became.

  • Deluxe Backpack: 20 → 15 Commendations, a reduction of 5.
  • Deluxe Shield Implant: 12 → 10 Commendations, a reduction of 2.
  • Deluxe Key Template: 40 → 30 Commendations, a reduction of 10.
  • Superior Key Template: 75 → 50 Commendations, a reduction of 25.

These are direct Armory cost changes, not discounts that require a separate coupon or contract. Bungie does not say that previously spent Commendations will be refunded.

What are the two new C.A.R.R.I. items?

Update 1.1.9 adds a Superior Shield Implant and a Superior Backpack to the C.A.R.R.I. Armory. Bungie says the new offers can be acquired three times per week, but the patch does not publish their Commendation prices or clarify whether the three-purchase limit is shared between them or applied to each offer.

That distinction matters when planning a weekly purchase. Check the live CyAc tab before spending on a Key Template or Deluxe item, because the in-game Armory is the authoritative place for the two Superior prices, remaining stock, and reset timer.

How to earn CyberAcme Commendations

Bungie’s Season 2 C.A.R.R.I. return notes describe different earning paths for crews, solo Runners, and Rooks. Update 1.1.9 changes store inventory and prices, not those listed reward amounts.

  • Crew members: earn 4 Commendations for each contract objective they help a crewmate complete.
  • Solo Runners who are not Rooks: earn 6 for each individual contract objective and can earn 5 extra by exfiling with other players.
  • Rooks: earn 5 for a successful exfil and can earn 5 extra by exfiling with other players.

The reward is sent directly to the Vault after the qualifying action. Open the CyAc tab to spend it in the C.A.R.R.I. Armory; the September patch does not introduce a new redemption menu.

What changed in the Rook starting inventory?

  • Compromised Sneak Pack: one additional utility item in the listed Rook inventory.
  • Claymores: two are included.
  • Depleted Self Revive: one is included.
  • Signal Jammer: one is included.

Bungie describes these as inventory additions rather than permanent Rook progression unlocks. The studio explicitly limits the change to the remainder of Season 2.

When does the temporary Rook kit end?

Update 1.1.9 says the Rook inventory changes last until the end of Season 2. Bungie’s separate official calendar schedules Season 3 to begin September 22, making that the practical boundary players should plan around.

That date is context, not an exact removal timestamp. The patch does not state a maintenance hour, and Bungie could publish a revised schedule. Players trying to use the added Claymores, Self Revive, or Signal Jammer should do so before the Season 3 transition rather than assume they remain after it.

What does “Sponsored Night Marsh returns” mean?

The patch confirms the queue’s return but gives no new end date, rotation, player count, or detailed rules. When Bungie first described Sponsored Survival at the start of Season 2, one crew entered Night Marsh, solo Rooks joined later, the final exfil appeared after 18 minutes, crews needed Sponsored Kits, and Rooks entered without gear.

Those earlier rules explain the mode’s low-risk, PvP-lite design, but Update 1.1.9 does not promise that every setting is unchanged. Read the live queue card before spending a kit or planning around the old 18-minute exfil.

Contract, Codex, and Cryo Archive fixes

  • Return on Investment 4/5: objectives should no longer become impossible to interact with after a player walks away mid-completion.
  • Unsanctioned Hostilities 5/5: acquiring quest items from other players should now advance the contract.
  • Codex credit: Bungie made additional changes for completed challenges that failed to award completion credit.
  • Century Runner emblem: Season 1 players who reached Level 100 but did not claim it before Season 2 should now be able to claim it.
  • Cryo Archive: the patch closes an out-of-bounds route and fixes the Compiler-fight door incorrectly shutting.

The smaller interface, mod, and cosmetic fixes

  • Full-Auto Selector: its tooltip no longer incorrectly says the mod increases rate of fire.
  • Ranked selection: the Threat indicator text visual problem is fixed.
  • Invites and joins: the sent-invite and player-joined notices should play more consistently.
  • Russian text: several clipping problems are fixed.
  • Acid Abyss Thief: parts of the skin should no longer obstruct the player view while using the KKV-9SD.

Bungie also corrects a small typo in the Thief Weaverunner Shell description. The notes do not announce weapon damage tuning, a new Runner shell, a new map, or a seasonal reset.

Is Update 1.1.9 worth installing immediately?

Yes if you use C.A.R.R.I., play as a Rook, enter Night Marsh, or are blocked by one of the named contracts. The Superior offers and lower prices affect progression choices, while the temporary Rook inventory gives immediate tools to players entering without a normal loadout.

Players focused elsewhere still benefit from the Codex and Cryo fixes, but this is a targeted live-service update rather than a major content season. Bungie does not list a download size, downtime window, or platform-specific build number in the public notes.
