Middle-earth: Shadow Bundle launches on Nintendo Switch 2 on September 30. Aspyr is bringing together two action games built around the Nemesis System: Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor Game of the Year Edition and Middle-earth: Shadow of War Definitive Edition.
The games will also be sold separately. The bundle’s listed base price is $69.99, while a limited preorder offer cuts it in half to $34.99. Aspyr has not announced how long that discount will last, so the sale price should not be mistaken for the permanent price.
What is in the bundle?
The first game follows Talion, a ranger bound to a wraith, as he hunts across Mordor and faces orc captains who can remember previous fights. The Game of the Year Edition brings its additional missions, challenges and other previously released content together with the main story.
Shadow of War takes that idea further. Talion builds an army, recruits followers and attacks fortresses. The Definitive Edition includes the sequel’s downloadable story and Nemesis expansions. Among them are Blade of Galadriel and Desolation of Mordor, as well as the Slaughter and Outlaw tribe additions.
The Nemesis System is the real draw of this return. An orc who beats you can rise through the ranks, gain new traits and recognize you when you meet again. A rival can become a recurring part of your own playthrough rather than a disposable enemy. In Shadow of War, that personal rivalry feeds into the larger struggle to control fortresses and build a force around Talion.
What is still unknown about the Switch 2 versions?
The announcement confirms the games, their editions, the date and the current bundle price. It does not spell out the Switch 2 versions’ frame rate, resolution, download size or whether a physical release is planned. The screenshots here are official images of the original games, not captures from Nintendo’s new hardware. Aspyr’s trailer shows the games in motion, but it is not a substitute for independently tested performance.
That leaves one question for players who already own the games elsewhere: how well will these large open worlds travel on Switch 2? For newcomers, the bundle is an easy way to get both complete adventures in one purchase. For returning players, the answer will depend on how the ports actually run when they arrive on September 30.
The package follows years of interest in the Nemesis System and in what became of it after the two Middle-earth games. This announcement is about making those existing adventures available on a new platform. Aspyr has not announced a third entry or new Nemesis game.
