Cronos: Lazarus has shown its clearest gameplay yet. Bloober Team’s new four-minute presentation follows the Pathfinder through a dark industrial area and explains how the expansion will move faster than Cronos: The New Dawn.

The Pathfinder can teleport, create a decoy and turn information from Tracker Mode into an explosive attack. The video also introduces the Gladius, a new weapon built for close and aggressive encounters. Lazarus is still scheduled for fall 2026 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2 and PC.

Teleportation changes the pace

The biggest difference is movement. Teleportation lets the Pathfinder cross a dangerous space in an instant. It can be used to reach an enemy, escape an attack or move to a better firing position before a creature can react.

That ability gives Lazarus a more direct rhythm than the base game. The Pathfinder is still surrounded by heavy weapons, strange machines and monsters, but he does not have to hold the same position for long. A quick teleport can turn a bad angle into an opening.

The decoy creates another way out. Instead of meeting every threat head-on, the Pathfinder can send an enemy toward a false target and move around it. Bloober says this adds a stealth option, although the showcase also makes clear that the power can be used to prepare a louder attack.

Tracker Mode can become a weapon

Tracker Mode is not only for finding a route or reading the environment. In the showcase, the Pathfinder marks information and uses it to fire an explosive shot. It gives the tool a place inside combat rather than keeping it separate from the action.

The Gladius supports the same aggressive approach. The weapon appears during close fights where the player has little room to wait. Together, the new systems suggest that Lazarus wants players to switch quickly between movement, distraction, tracking and damage.

Bloober describes the footage as a more visceral style that builds on what players liked about The New Dawn. The goal is not to remove the survival-horror pressure. It is to give the Pathfinder a different set of answers when that pressure arrives.

Something new is hunting the Pathfinder

Lazarus also reverses the chase. The Pathfinder is an agent of the Collective, but a special enemy has been sent to track him down. Bloober has not revealed every detail about that hunter, and the showcase avoids explaining exactly why the Pathfinder has become its target.

The story follows the Warden during his younger years. Players step into his earlier role as the Pathfinder and see another part of the Cronos universe. That makes Lazarus more than a side mission built from familiar rooms: it is meant to add history to one of the original game’s most recognizable figures.

No exact release date has been announced. Fall 2026 remains the official window, and the expansion is confirmed for the same four platforms listed by Bloober Team.
