METRO 2039's Collector's Edition will include something fans can actually wear: a replica of the Stranger's battle-scarred Spartan helmet. Deep Silver revealed the first details on August 24, ahead of the game's public appearance at Gamescom.

The helmet is the only confirmed item so far. Pre-orders are planned for later in 2026, but Deep Silver has not announced the price, a complete contents list, or the retailers that will carry the special edition.

The Collector's Edition includes the Stranger's helmet

Deep Silver says the replica is built directly from the in-game 3D model of METRO 2039's protagonist, known as the Stranger. It is designed as a physical version of the helmet he uses in the game, including a hinged visor and integrated gas-mask elements.

The first look shows a worn finish rather than a clean piece of costume armor. Scratches, damage, and personal changes are part of the design, matching the way the Stranger's equipment reflects a life spent in an irradiated world. Deep Silver says the helmet will only be available through the Collector's Edition.

Pre-orders are coming later this year

The Collector's Edition is not available to pre-order yet. Deep Silver says the pre-order window will open later in 2026 and that the number of special editions will be limited. The publisher has not shared a price, the full list of physical or digital bonuses, or the shipping regions.

That leaves the helmet as the main selling point for now. The announcement does not confirm whether the box will include a game disc, a digital code, a season pass, art materials, or other merchandise. Those details should wait for the actual product listing instead of being inferred from the teaser.

The helmet is part of METRO's survival language

In METRO 2039, the Spartan helmet is more than a costume. Its visor and gas-mask systems are survival tools for a world damaged by nuclear war, and the gear helps separate the protected spaces of the Metro from the poisoned surface above Moscow.

Deep Silver also uses the helmet as a marker for the Stranger. The character is a new protagonist for the series, and his damaged equipment gives the Collector's Edition a direct link to the story rather than presenting a generic logo statue or a random weapon replica.

METRO 2039 will be playable at Gamescom

The physical helmet will be on display at Gamescom 2026, where METRO 2039 will also have hands-on stations. Deep Silver lists the game's booth in Hall 9.1, with the public show running from August 27 through August 30.

The event is the first public chance to try METRO 2039, not just see a trailer. Our Gamescom 2026 watch guide has the broader schedule, while Deep Silver's booth will focus on exploring, scavenging, and surviving in the new Metro.

Release date and platforms

METRO 2039 is scheduled for February 2027 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Steam, and the Epic Games Store. Deep Silver describes it as the next mainline game in the series, with a new single-player story created by 4A Games in collaboration with Metro author Dmitry Glukhovsky.

The story moves through post-apocalyptic Moscow in the year 2039. A faction called the Novoreich controls the Metro under a leader known as Hunter, while the Stranger leaves exile after violent waking nightmares pull him back toward the tunnels. The game combines exploration, survival, combat, and stealth instead of turning the setting into a simple shooting gallery.

Deep Silver says the story is original rather than a direct adaptation of one of Glukhovsky's novels. The Stranger also gives new players a clear entry point, while returning fans can follow the links to the wider Metro world without needing to replay every earlier game first.

There is also a Collector's Edition giveaway

Deep Silver has opened a newsletter registration campaign connected to the Collector's Edition. The publisher's terms say the competition began on August 24 and runs until METRO 2039's release, with age and regional restrictions listed in the official rules.

Registration is not the same as a pre-order. It gives fans a way to receive information about the Collector's Edition and enter the promotion, while the actual retail listing and price are still waiting for a later announcement.

What we still need to know

The helmet reveal answers the most obvious question about the special edition, but not the practical ones. Deep Silver still needs to confirm the price, size and materials of the replica, the complete contents of the box, the release date for pre-orders, and which regions will receive it.

For now, the physical item has a clear connection to the game. It is based on the Stranger's model, uses the same damaged survival gear shown in the story, and will be available to see in person at Gamescom before METRO 2039 launches in February 2027.
