Fields of Mistria is leaving Early Access on August 5, 2026, and the jump to version 1.0 is much bigger than a routine patch. Marriage, children, the end of the town repair storyline, more dungeon content, new perks, and a higher Renown cap are all part of the full release.
The good news for returning players is simple: you do not need to start over. Your current save carries into 1.0, the new content works on an existing farm, and eligible achievements unlock retroactively. New players can also begin without worrying that they missed a limited Early Access route.
This guide explains what changes in Fields of Mistria 1.0, what happens to your save and relationships, and what you should do before loading the update.

Do you need a new save for Fields of Mistria 1.0?
No. NPC Studio says all existing saves carry over, and every player can reach the new 1.0 content regardless of how far they have progressed.
That means you can keep your farm layout, animals, money, museum donations, relationships, completed quests, and other progress. There is no technical reason to erase a long-running save just to see the new ending, marriage system, or higher Renown levels.
Starting again is purely a personal choice. A fresh farm can make sense if you have forgotten the controls or story after a long break, but it is not required to unlock anything. If you already have dozens of hours invested, continuing is the fastest route into the late-game additions.
Will old saves receive Steam achievements?
Yes. Achievements are retroactive when your save already meets their requirements. You should not need to repeat early-game goals or create a second character simply to make those achievements register.
The practical move is to load your existing save after the update and give the game time to check your progress. If an achievement depends on an action that was never recorded by the old build, you may still need to perform that action again, but NPC Studio’s official answer is that a new save is not necessary.
What is new in Fields of Mistria 1.0?

The official 1.0 roadmap says version 1.0 finishes the game and its storylines as NPC Studio originally planned them. It also expands nearly every long-term system: relationships, town progression, dungeons, skills, the museum, customization, and localization.
The update is designed as an ending point for the Early Access roadmap, not the end of support. NPC Studio has already said more content updates and patches are planned after launch.
Marriage, proposals, weddings, and children

Romance is one of the largest upgrades. Marriage candidates can finally move beyond eight Hearts, with the cap increasing to 10 Hearts. The new final relationship events lead into proposals, weddings, and married life.
Marriage is available regardless of the player character’s gender. Fields of Mistria does not lock eligible partners behind a gender choice, so you can pursue the character you like without rebuilding your save.
Children are also part of 1.0, but they are optional. The player decides whether to have a baby after marriage, so choosing a spouse does not force that part of the system.
What happens if you are dating more than one character?
You can date multiple characters before marriage. Once you marry someone, the other people you were dating change to best friend status. You do not lose those characters from your life, but the romantic route closes when you commit to a spouse.
If you want to see several dating events before choosing, finish them before the wedding. For a deeper look at how another farming game handles commitment and jealousy, Pixel Twelve’s Moonlight Peaks marriage guide explains its different rules.
Two new Saturday Market vendors
Stillwell and Zorel join the Saturday Market in 1.0. Their arrival fills the final two planned vendor spaces, giving the weekly market eight unique stalls.
Returning players should visit the market after updating instead of assuming they have already seen everything it can offer. New stock and characters are an easy part of the launch content to overlook when your old routine is built around the earlier vendor lineup.
The town repair story can finally be completed
The full release raises the Renown level cap to 100 and adds the remaining Town Repair Questline events. Most importantly, the town repair storyline is now completable.
This is the main reason advanced players should continue their existing saves. A developed town places you closer to the new story material, while a fresh file must rebuild Renown and clear the older repair steps first.
The Request Board also receives more jobs, while the museum gets additional sets and rewards. Even if your farm is already efficient, there will be new reasons to check daily requests and return to collecting.
More dungeon quests and rewards
Fields of Mistria’s mines were already completable before 1.0, but the launch version adds more dungeon quests and rewards. The roadmap does not list every reward in advance, so players should avoid assuming that an old endgame loadout covers every new objective.
Before exploring, clear some inventory space, bring food, and check your equipment. If you have not visited the mines since the engine migration, a short test run is smarter than immediately committing to a long descent.
New skill perks
All nine skill categories already had perk trees during Early Access. Version 1.0 adds more perks, giving saved Essence and late-game progression more value.
Do not spend resources blindly on the first new option you see. Read the full tree after updating, identify what supports your daily routine, and prioritize perks that save time across several activities. A small farming, movement, or stamina improvement can be more useful than a narrow bonus you rarely activate.
More furniture, cosmetics, and mount skins
The customization side of Fields of Mistria also expands with more furniture, decor, character cosmetics, and mount skins. Players who treated farm design as an endgame activity now have a new pool of items to collect and build around.
You do not need to tear down a finished farm before seeing the new catalogue. Check the shops, crafting options, market vendors, rewards, and unlock menus first. If you enjoy compact layouts that still look welcoming, Pixel Twelve’s cozy Minecraft base guide offers a few useful space-planning ideas that also work in life sims.
New languages arrive in beta
Version 1.0 adds beta localization for Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, French, Japanese, Korean, Russian, and Spanish.
NPC Studio estimates each translation will be around 75% complete at launch. All gameplay features remain accessible, but some text—especially late-game dialogue—may temporarily appear in English when a translation is missing. The developer plans to improve these localizations through updates and player feedback.
English remains the only fully listed language on the current Steam page. If you switch to a beta language, expect a mix of translated and English text until later patches fill the gaps.
Is Fields of Mistria 1.0 coming to consoles?
Not yet. Fields of Mistria 1.0 is focused on PC. The official Fields of Mistria FAQ says NPC Studio will evaluate possible ports in the future, but no PlayStation, Xbox, or Nintendo release has been announced.
Steam Deck is different from a console port. The game now has native Steam Deck support, and the engine migration also added supported Linux and SteamOS options. That makes handheld PC play available without confirming a Switch or Switch 2 version.
Treat any store listing, social post, or release window for consoles as unconfirmed unless NPC Studio announces it directly.
