Coven Academy will tell its story in 21 short chapters. Creator Tim Federle says watching them together adds up to more than five hours.

“They are shorter chapters, but if you binge it, it’s like five-plus hours.”

Federle said the writers focused on telling a full season’s story, rather than trying to fit a separate plot into each short chapter.

Briar, played by Malina Weissman, arrives at the New Orleans school looking for answers about her mother’s death. Miss Graves (Tiffani Thiessen) asks her to form a coven with Sasha (Jordan Leftwich) and Tegan (Ora Duplass).
