The New Stars Route lets players create and edit a player who joins Tsubasa’s campaign. Versus is the competitive option. Nintendo, Xbox, and Steam list local and online play for one or two players. Those listings confirm same-system and online matches, but they do not advertise cross-platform matchmaking. Players should not assume cross-play unless Bandai Namco adds a separate confirmation.
How Many Teams and Characters Are Included?
The launch roster includes 22 national teams. Bandai Namco names Brazil, Argentina, the Netherlands, Mexico, and other international rivals, with Japan competing on the road to the World Youth Championship.
The full selection goes beyond national squads. The publisher says the game also includes more than five club teams, five high school teams, and Real Japan, a special team from the original manga. Across those teams, the playable roster exceeds 110 characters.
That count separates teams from characters: 22 is the number of national squads, not the total number of selectable teams. Club, school, and special teams increase the lineup beyond that headline figure.
What Changed in the Football Battle System?
World Fighters remains an action-focused soccer game rather than a simulation. Character-specific Super Moves now apply to passes, dribbles, tackles, blocks, and shots. Bandai Namco says the game contains more than 150 new moves and cutscenes that present those special actions.
The Chain System rewards linked dribbles, passes, and special actions by improving shot power and charge speed. Max Actions are higher-risk moves for attacking and defending, while Miracle Actions are rare comeback sequences designed to change a match.
Goalkeepers now take part in a more tactical duel. The system uses six-direction shot prediction, stamina management, and break mechanics that can permanently reduce a keeper’s stamina during the match. The shooter still needs to build an opening rather than treating every signature shot as an automatic goal.
Standard, Deluxe, and Ultimate Edition Differences
The three editions share the same base game. Their differences are the Season Pass and customization items. Regional prices vary, so the included content is more useful than a single storefront price when comparing them.

- Deluxe Edition: The base game plus the Season Pass, six future playable characters, customization items, and the Black Ball customization bonus. Bandai Namco says the Season Pass content is planned for release by August 2027.

Standard is the direct choice for the launch game alone. Deluxe adds the announced character pass. Ultimate adds cosmetic and early-unlock extras on top of that pass; it does not advertise a different campaign or exclusive competitive mode.
