Rebel Wolves has shown how The Blood of Dawnwalker will run on current consoles, and the fastest setting listed is 40 frames per second. The official console footage shows Quality and Balanced modes targeting dynamic 4K at 30fps and 40fps on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 5 Pro, and Xbox Series X. It does not list a 60fps mode for launch.
The news arrives less than two weeks before the game's Sept. 3 release. VGC reports that the console video confirms a 40fps ceiling, while PS5 Pro receives enhanced visual quality rather than a higher frame-rate target. Xbox Series S performance was not shown in the video, so its final mode details are still unknown.
The console choices are 30fps or 40fps
The footage presents two modes on each console it covers:
Quality mode targets dynamic 4K at 30fps on PS5, PS5 Pro, and Xbox Series X.
Balanced mode targets dynamic 4K at 40fps on those same platforms.
PS5 Pro adds enhanced visual quality in both modes, but the frame-rate targets remain the same as base PS5 and Xbox Series X.
Those are targets, not a promise that every scene will hold the exact number. The mode names and numbers come from the console video, and VGC's report confirms that no 60fps option has been announced for the launch versions.

PS5 Pro improves the image, not the frame rate
The PS5 Pro version is not being positioned as a separate performance tier. Rebel Wolves says the more powerful console gets enhanced visual quality across Quality and Balanced, while the listed targets stay at 30fps and 40fps. Players buying the Pro for a sharper version of the game will get that benefit, but they should not expect it to unlock a 60fps option at launch.
That is a different trade from the usual console setup, where a performance mode lowers resolution or effects to raise the frame rate. Dawnwalker keeps dynamic 4K in both listed modes. The footage does not explain every setting behind that choice, so it is too early to say whether the limitation comes from the open world, the game's systems, or a decision to protect image quality.
What 40fps means for players
Balanced mode sits between the two options. It should look smoother than 30fps while keeping a higher image-quality target than a traditional performance mode, but it is still well below 60fps. Players with a display that supports the mode will have a choice between steadier motion and the sharper presentation of Quality mode.
Forty frames per second is the fastest launch target listed for consoles. The video does not show a 60fps option. Rebel Wolves and Bandai Namco have not announced a performance patch, although an update could add one later.
PC players are getting a different set of questions
The console footage does not set a frame-rate cap for PC. The official Dawnwalker website lists PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S as launch platforms, but the video only details the console modes. PC players will need to compare their hardware with the game's requirements and choose their own resolution, upscaling, and frame-rate settings once the game is available.
The separate PC version also means the console targets should not be used to predict how the game feels on every platform. Rebel Wolves' earlier gameplay deep dive was captured on PC from a pre-beta build, while this new video is specifically about console presentation.
The release date is almost here
The Blood of Dawnwalker launches Sept. 3 for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S. It is an open-world dark fantasy action RPG from Rebel Wolves and Bandai Namco Entertainment, following Coen as he uses human abilities by day and vampiric powers by night. Our August gaming release guide tracks Dawnwalker alongside the larger fall schedule.
The console footage gives buyers a clear decision before launch: choose dynamic 4K at a 30fps target for image quality, or a 40fps target through Balanced mode. PS5 Pro adds enhanced visuals, but it does not add a faster option. Until the studio says otherwise, anyone looking for 60fps on console will have to wait for a possible post-launch update or play on PC.
