Black Ops 7 Season 5 adds four new weapons, but they do not all use the same unlock path. The FG42 and Gremlin are free Battle Pass rewards available at launch. The Mammoth comes from the Machine of War event, while the Mace is attached to a Weekly Challenge reward arriving during the season.

You do not need to buy the premium Battle Pass to claim the base FG42 or Gremlin. You do need to progress far enough to complete their free pages. The Mammoth and Mace are also gameplay rewards, not store-only weapons.

Black Ops 7 Season 5 weapon unlocks at a glance

  • FG42 assault rifle: complete Battle Pass Page 3. The weapon is the free Page 3 completion reward.
  • Gremlin SMG: complete Battle Pass Page 6. The weapon is the free Page 6 completion reward.

The official Season 5 overview does not name the exact week for the Mace. Check Career, then Challenges, then Weekly Challenges to see the active reward and its requirements.

How to unlock the FG42

The FG42 is the free completion reward on Battle Pass Page 3. Open the Season 5 Battle Pass, work toward Page 3, claim the rewards needed to finish that page, and then claim the FG42. The base weapon is marked as a free unlock, so buying the 1,100 COD Point premium pass is not required.

Do not confuse the base weapon with the blueprint on Page 15. The Page 3 reward gives you the actual FG42. Page 15 contains a separate Battle Pass blueprint for players who continue through the pass.

The FG42 is a full-auto assault rifle with 37 weapon levels, a 30-round magazine, and three starting magazines. Its damage and recoil make it useful across several ranges, but its handling is slower and there is a short open-bolt delay before it begins firing. Give yourself a little more room than you would with a fast SMG, and avoid treating every close fight like an instant sprint-to-fire duel.

How to unlock the Gremlin

The Gremlin is the free completion reward on Battle Pass Page 6. Progress through the Battle Pass until Page 6 is available, claim the rewards required to complete the page, and take the Gremlin as the final reward. Like the FG42, the base Gremlin is free even if you do not own the premium Battle Pass.

There is also a Gremlin blueprint on Page 12. That blueprint is not the base-weapon unlock. If your goal is simply to use the Gremlin, Page 6 is the important destination.

The Gremlin is a pair of full-auto dual-wield SMGs. It has 47 weapon levels, a 26-round magazine for each weapon, and four starting magazines. Its movement, handling, and hip-fire accuracy are the main advantages. The tradeoff is clear: you cannot aim down sights, and the weapon loses value as the distance grows. Push into close routes, keep moving, and use short controlled bursts when a target is farther away.

Do you need the premium Battle Pass?

No. The base FG42 and Gremlin are free rewards. The Season 5 Battle Pass mixes free and premium items across its pages. You still have to earn enough progress to reach and complete Pages 3 and 6, but you do not have to spend COD Points just to unlock these two weapons.

The premium Battle Pass costs 1,100 COD Points. The 2,400 COD Point bundle includes 20 Tokens, which can speed up page progress. Those purchases add premium rewards and a faster start, but they do not change the free status of the two base weapons.

If you only care about gameplay unlocks, save your Tokens for the shortest path toward Page 3 first and Page 6 second. The exact route depends on which pages are connected and available in your Battle Pass screen, so use the visible page links rather than spending Tokens randomly.

How to unlock the Mammoth LMG

The Mammoth is the main weapon reward in the Machine of War event. During that event, collect Fuel Cans across Endgame, Multiplayer, Zombies, or Warzone. The Fuel Cans advance the event reward track, which includes the Mammoth LMG along with camos, a reticle, a loading screen, and other rewards.

Open the Events menu before you start playing and confirm that Machine of War is active. The official overview describes the Mammoth as an in-season reward, so it may not be available during every part of Season 5. If the event is not listed, wait for its scheduled window rather than searching the Battle Pass for the weapon.

The Mammoth has 39 weapon levels, a 50-round magazine, and three starting magazines. Its twin reciprocating barrels hit hard and stay manageable during sustained fire, but the fire rate, movement, and handling are slow. It fits players who like holding a lane, supporting teammates, and keeping pressure on an area. Mobility and handling attachments can help when you want a more aggressive build.

How to unlock the Mace

The Mace is a Weekly Challenge reward. Go to Career, open Challenges, and select Weekly Challenges. When the Mace appears as the featured weekly reward, complete any six challenges across the supported modes. You can mix challenges from Endgame, Multiplayer, Zombies, and Warzone instead of completing all six in one mode.

The Mace has 30 weapon levels and no attachments. It deals high damage and reaches farther than a quick close-range swing might suggest, but the attack speed is slow. Commit when the target is within reach, and do not expect it to recover as quickly as a lighter melee weapon after a missed attack.

Because the reward rotates by week, always check the current Weekly Challenge screen before grinding. Completing six challenges during a different reward week gives you that week's item, not the Mace.

What to do if an unlock is not tracking

First, confirm that you are looking at the correct system. The FG42 and Gremlin are Battle Pass page rewards, the Mammoth belongs to Machine of War, and the Mace belongs to Weekly Challenges. Progress in one menu will not automatically move a different reward track.

  • FG42 or Gremlin missing: reopen the Battle Pass and confirm that every required reward on the correct page has been claimed.
  • Mammoth progress missing: open the Machine of War event and verify that it is active and that Fuel Cans are being counted on the event track.
  • Mace progress missing: check that the Mace is the current weekly reward and that the challenge counter increased after the match.

If the screen still shows old progress, return to the main menu or restart the game, then check the reward track again. Also review the official patch notes for a newly acknowledged progression problem before repeating a long challenge.

Which Season 5 weapon should you unlock first?

Start with the FG42 because Page 3 arrives earlier in the Battle Pass and the rifle works across more situations. Move toward the Gremlin next if you enjoy fast close-range play. The Mammoth is worth prioritizing while Machine of War is active because event windows are limited. The Mace depends on its weekly rotation, so finish those six challenges during the correct week instead of putting the reward off.
