ARC Raiders' fifth Expedition will be the last until early 2027. In an Aug. 21 announcement, Embark Studios said player feedback exposed problems with tight departure windows, the reward structure, and access for new players. The studio says those issues need larger changes than another small patch, so Expeditions will pause after the September run.

ARC Raiders is Embark's multiplayer extraction adventure, available on Steam, Epic Games Store, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and GeForce Now, according to the official homepage. The Steam listing identifies Embark as the developer and publisher and says players can go solo or form parties of up to three. Expeditions add a scheduled progression path to those extraction runs.

The fifth Expedition has a fixed three-week window

The fifth Expedition opens Sept. 8, 2026, at 11 a.m. UTC / 4 a.m. PT and closes Sept. 29 at 8 a.m. UTC / 1 a.m. PT. The official window lasts three weeks, one week longer than the previous two-week schedule.

Completing the Caravan does not sign a player up automatically. You still have to register during the Expedition window, and everyone who signs up departs on Sept. 29. There is no last-call period this time, so missing the sign-up window means missing this departure.

What an Expedition means for a new player

An Expedition is a personal progression path that players complete in order. A Caravan can be completed between Expedition windows, but finishing the Expedition itself is possible only during the scheduled window. The distinction is easy to miss: the Caravan is the preparation work, while the Expedition is the limited departure period that turns that work into a completed milestone.

That setup is why timing and accessibility are connected. A new player can understand the extraction loop and still miss the Expedition if the departure dates do not fit their schedule. The fifth run also makes the quest reset optional, so players can keep their quest progress instead of starting that line over when they depart.

Players who have not seen Embark's rotating vendor system can also read our earlier ARC Raiders Ermal blueprint guide. That guide covers an older Aug. 3–9 offer, but it explains why Ermal Vouchers matter during the Expedition pause.

What changes in the fifth Expedition

  • Quest reset is optional, so players can keep their current quest progress.
  • The Expedition window lasts three weeks instead of two.
  • There is no last-call feature after the sign-up window closes.
  • Completing all five Expeditions unlocks the complete Zenith Outfit.
  • Partially completed Caravans are replaced with Ermal Vouchers of equal value when the system resets.

The fifth run is a transition point rather than the full 2027 redesign. The new window and optional reset address specific complaints, but Embark has not yet shown what the returning system will look like.

Why Embark is pausing the system

Embark's wording points to a problem across the whole Expedition cycle. A longer window can help players who cannot log in on the original schedule, and an optional reset removes one source of repetition. Neither change answers whether the rewards feel worth the work or whether a new player can enter the system without extra friction. That is why the studio is pausing Expeditions instead of stacking another small adjustment on top of the current rules.

GamesRadar+ reported the same pause and described the fifth Expedition as the final run before major improvements. The return date is still only described as early 2027. Embark has not announced a detailed reward list, a new set of requirements, or a precise date for the next Expedition.

The current Trials season ends Sept. 22, and Embark says Trials will pause for two weeks before returning Oct. 8. That is separate from the Expedition system, but it gives players another date to track while September's content winds down.

What happens after Sept. 29

During the pause, consecutive buffs already earned by players will persist. Anyone who has completed all five Expeditions will have the full Zenith Outfit, while partially completed Caravans will convert into Ermal Vouchers that can be used for vendor offers or sold for Coin. These are the immediate carryover rules; the larger changes are still under development.

Embark has confirmed that Expeditions return in early 2027 with major improvements and that more details will arrive in September. It has not promised that the current structure will survive unchanged, so exact requirements and rewards should not be treated as known yet.

For players already preparing a Caravan, the fifth Expedition is the last scheduled chance under the current system. It offers a clear three-week deadline and the final step toward the complete Zenith Outfit. For everyone else, the pause is a signal that Embark is willing to rebuild the feature instead of asking new players to learn rules the studio already plans to replace.
