007 First Light will not reach Nintendo Switch 2 until March 2027. IO Interactive moved the port out of its previous summer 2026 window and said the extra time will be used to polish performance on Nintendo’s hardware.

The studio has not announced a specific day in March. The PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC editions already launched on May 27, so the new delay applies only to the Switch 2 version.

The new 007 First Light Switch 2 release window

IO Interactive announced the March 2027 window on September 15. The statement says the exact date will be communicated later, which means March 1 and March 31 are equally possible until the studio narrows the schedule.

This is the second change for the Switch 2 edition. It was originally expected beside the other platforms on May 27, then moved to summer 2026, and is now scheduled for March 2027.

  • New Switch 2 window: March 2027.
  • Exact day: Not announced.
  • Other platforms: Available now on PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC.
  • Reason given: More time to polish Switch 2 performance.

Why the Switch 2 version was delayed again

IO Interactive said the additional development time is focused on the quality and performance players expect. The studio did not identify a frame-rate target, resolution mode or specific technical problem in the public statement.

Without those details, the delay should not be read as confirmation of one particular issue. The only confirmed technical goal is broader performance polish before the Switch 2 launch.

The other versions are already available

007 First Light launched May 27 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC through Steam and the Epic Games Store. Those editions are not moving to March 2027 and remain available while work continues on the Nintendo port.

Players choosing between platforms should therefore separate the game’s general launch from the Switch 2 schedule. March is a port-specific release window, not a delay for every version.

The same demo is heading to Tokyo Game Show

IO Interactive also said the Gamescom demo will be playable at Tokyo Game Show this week. The company described positive Gamescom feedback as a sign of progress across the game, while keeping the Switch 2 work on a separate timetable.

A public demo at an event does not create a downloadable trial or confirm that the Switch 2 build is present. The announcement only promises access to the same hands-on slice shown at Gamescom.

What 007 First Light is about

007 First Light is IO Interactive’s original James Bond origin story. It follows a younger Bond before he becomes the fully established agent known from later missions, combining stealth, investigation, driving and third-person action.

The game is not a direct adaptation of one Bond film. IO Interactive created its own version of the character and world, with a new story built for the game.
