The newest Tank Chair trailer finally lets the mysterious Sensei speak. Megumi Ogata has joined the Japanese voice cast in that role, announced alongside the anime’s second main promotional video on September 17. The action series begins broadcasting in Japan on October 4, giving the new footage a clear countdown.
The premise sounds wild, but its emotional center is simple. Nagi Taira was a formidable hitman until he was shot protecting his younger sister Shizuka. He now sits unconscious in a wheelchair. The one thing that wakes him is someone directing murderous intent at him. Shizuka takes him into danger because she believes repeated fights might bring him back for good.
Who is Sensei?
The official site had kept the voice behind Sensei as a question mark in its English cast listing. Its September 17 Japanese news now names Megumi Ogata, and the second trailer gives viewers a first chance to hear the performance. The production has not used that announcement to reveal every part of Sensei’s story, so the character’s full role remains a reason to watch.
Ogata’s arrival adds another recognizable voice to an ensemble led by Koki Uchiyama as Nagi and Minori Fujidera as Shizuka. Gakuto Kajiwara and Saori Hayami voice Naozumi and Touko Kurosaka. The announcement is about Sensei’s casting, not a change to the two siblings at the center of the series.
What does the trailer show?
The new promo cuts between crowded streets, sudden violence and much quieter images of Nagi and Shizuka. It makes the strange rule of Nagi’s condition feel frightening: an attack can be the thing that gives him a moment of consciousness. The images move quickly, but the wheelchair, the siblings and the dangerous people around them remain easy to understand.
Polygon Pictures is animating Manabu Yashiro’s manga. Tadahiro “Tady” Yoshihira directs and handles series composition and the screenplay, with Hiroaki Ando also directing and writing. The staff describes a world that is colorful and chaotic even when the story turns brutal. Shizuka’s effort to save her brother keeps the fights from being only a parade of spectacle.
When and where does it start?
Tokyo MX begins the Japanese broadcast on Sunday, October 4 at 23:00 Japan time. The official schedule also lists a Japanese Prime Video advance stream at 23:30 the same day, with additional Japanese services starting later. These are Japan listings; a worldwide streaming release has not been confirmed on the official English schedule.
Tank Chair has an easy-to-remember hook, but the new trailer’s better promise is the relationship underneath it: Shizuka keeps searching for a way to save Nagi, even when waking him means placing them both in the path of another killer.
