The Incomer opened in select US theaters on September 25, 2026. Domhnall Gleeson plays Daniel, a council worker sent to a small Scottish island. He needs to evacuate Isla and Sandy, a brother and sister who have spent their lives there and do not welcome strangers.

What happens on the island?

Isla and Sandy live by rules passed down from their father: protect the island, keep outsiders away and survive. Daniel arrives with paperwork and orders to move them. He does not know their routines or beliefs, and they have little patience for his ideas about life on the mainland. That clash gives the film its comedy.

The story also has a more serious side. The siblings have to decide what to do when the life they know may no longer be possible. Daniel is not a fearless hero arriving to fix everything: he is awkward, out of place and trying to do a difficult job. The trailer and stills focus on the island’s steep coast, small houses and the three very different people at the center.

Gayle Rankin plays Isla, Grant O’Rourke plays Sandy and Domhnall Gleeson plays Daniel. The cast also includes Emun Elliott as Calum and Michelle Gomez as Roz. Louis Paxton wrote and directed the film. The main story works because the three leads have opposite ideas about what counts as home, safety and freedom.
