Verity opens in theaters worldwide on October 2, 2026. Based on Colleen Hoover’s novel, the thriller stars Dakota Johnson, Anne Hathaway and Josh Hartnett. Johnson plays a writer hired to finish another author’s books. At the author’s home, she finds a manuscript that makes her question everything she has been told about the family.

Dakota Johnson plays Lowen Ashleigh, a struggling writer offered a job at the Crawford estate. The famous novelist Verity Crawford, played by Anne Hathaway, cannot finish her books, so Lowen is brought in to write the rest of the series. Josh Hartnett plays Jeremy Crawford, Verity’s husband.
While sorting through Verity’s papers, Lowen finds what looks like a personal manuscript. It contains disturbing claims about Verity’s family, but Lowen cannot tell whether the events really happened. The film’s trailer keeps the book’s biggest revelations hidden.
