Star Wars: Galactic Racer has gone gold ahead of its October 6 release. Fuse Games says the racing game has cleared its final quality and certification milestones, and it is still scheduled to launch worldwide on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
“Going gold” is an old game-development term for finishing the release build that can be sent to manufacturing. It does not mean the team can never patch the game, but it does mean Galactic Racer has reached the milestone it needs before launch. Pre-orders are already available.
When does Star Wars: Galactic Racer release?
Star Wars: Galactic Racer launches worldwide on October 6, 2026. It is coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC through Steam and the Epic Games Store. Fuse has not announced a Nintendo Switch 2 version or a cloud-only edition.

The game has a single-player campaign and competitive multiplayer. The campaign follows Shade, a racer trying to build a name in the Galactic League while taking on Kestar, a rival with his own plans for the circuit. The story begins after the Empire’s fall, as the New Republic struggles to rebuild and an unsanctioned racing scene grows in the Outer Rim.
What can you drive?
Galactic Racer is not limited to the classic podracer silhouette. The official game page lists podracers, landspeeders, skim speeders, and speeder bikes, with each class built around different handling and tactical advantages. Players can choose a vehicle that fits the track instead of using the same machine for every event.
The campaign is built around runs rather than a single fixed route. Races have branching paths, different environments, and risk-reward choices, so taking a shortcut can help a run or leave a racer exposed. Completing events earns parts, tools, and upgrades that can change the next attempt.

The game’s combat is part of the racing. The official description includes brutal takedowns, while the trailers show vehicles using their tools and positioning to force rivals off the best line. This is closer to a race with sabotage than a clean time trial, which should make the choice between a safe route and an aggressive move matter.
That structure also separates Galactic Racer from a straight remake of the podracing sequence in The Phantom Menace. A run can ask you to manage a vehicle’s handling, choose when to spend an upgrade, and decide whether a shortcut is worth the danger. The different classes should give multiplayer races a little more variety too: a player who is slower in a turn may still have a useful tool for an attack or a safer way through the next section.
How the Galactic League fits the Star Wars setting
Galactic Racer uses a familiar part of Star Wars without making the Force the center of the story. The Galactic League is a dangerous, sponsor-backed competition where pilots chase money and status across new and recognizable planets. Darius Pax runs the league, while Kestar Bool has the connections to shape it from the inside.
Shade enters that world with a personal reason to challenge the Bool family. That gives the campaign a clear rivalry while the events themselves provide the playable structure. Lucasfilm Games has also shown returning podracing names such as Ben Quadinaros, giving the new league a direct line to The Phantom Menace without simply remaking its race.
What “gone gold” does not answer
Fuse Games has not published a full launch-day content list or a detailed post-launch roadmap. The announcement confirms the October 6 date and the completed release milestone, but it does not say how many tracks, vehicles, or multiplayer events will be available on day one. Those details may arrive through the final pre-launch updates.
The available footage does show the game’s direction clearly enough: fast races across several planets, multiple vehicle classes, a campaign built around Shade’s rivalry with Kestar, and multiplayer for players who want to test their builds against other racers. The gold announcement removes the last question about whether the game is ready to ship. The next question is whether its run-based races can keep the Star Wars speed fantasy interesting after the first few hours.
Star Wars: Galactic Racer arrives October 6. Are you planning to race as Shade, or are you waiting to see which classic podracers return?
