Mewgenics launches on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2 on September 8, 2026. The PC version has been available since February 10. It is a single-player game, and the official storefronts do not currently confirm cross-save between PC and consoles. Steam lists the PC version at $29.99, while the checked US console pages do not yet show a consistent launch price.

What time does Mewgenics release on consoles?

The PlayStation Store lists the PS5 release for September 8 at 04:00 UTC. That converts to midnight Eastern and 9:00 p.m. Pacific on September 7. It is the only exact unlock time currently printed on the checked official storefronts.

Xbox and Nintendo list September 8 but do not publish an exact regional unlock time on the pages checked for this guide. Players should not assume the PlayStation time applies to every platform. Store libraries and preload screens can provide a platform-specific countdown closer to launch.

Is this a new Mewgenics game or the PC version?

The September release brings the existing Mewgenics to current consoles. It is not Mewgenics 2, a separate expansion, or a console-only sequel. The original PC version launched on Steam on February 10, 2026, and the console listings describe the same cat-breeding, turn-based tactical roguelike.

That distinction also explains why the game already has a large body of player feedback and a complete feature list. Console-specific performance and control features can differ, but the official announcements do not describe a separate campaign or exclusive console content.

Every confirmed Mewgenics platform

  • PC: available now through Steam.
  • PlayStation: PS5 on September 8.
  • Xbox: Xbox Series X|S on September 8.
  • Nintendo: Nintendo Switch 2 on September 8.

No PlayStation 4, Xbox One, or original Nintendo Switch version appears in the current official announcement or storefront set. The console release is limited to current-generation hardware, so an older-system listing from a retailer should not be treated as confirmation.

How much will Mewgenics cost on consoles?

Steam lists the PC version at $29.99 in the United States. That is a useful reference point, not a confirmed console price. The official US PlayStation and Xbox pages checked on August 30 did not display a purchase price, and the Nintendo listing reviewed for platform details did not establish a US price.

Nicalis has not announced a universal console price, launch discount, deluxe edition, or preorder bonus through the official sources used here. The safest answer is to wait for each regional store to open purchases rather than convert another region’s price or assume it will match Steam exactly.

Does Mewgenics have cross-save?

There is no official confirmation that a Steam save can move to PS5, Xbox Series X|S, or Switch 2, or that saves can transfer between consoles. Steam Cloud, Xbox cloud saves, and Nintendo cloud saves are listed separately, but those features normally synchronize progress only inside their own platform ecosystems.

Until Nicalis or the developers publish a cross-progression policy, players planning to switch platforms should expect to start a separate save. Buying the game on one storefront is also not announced to grant a copy on another storefront.

Is Mewgenics multiplayer or co-op?

Mewgenics is single-player. Steam, PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo all identify one-player play, and none of the official pages lists online co-op, local co-op, competitive multiplayer, or shared-screen support. Its party is made of cats managed by one player rather than separate human-controlled characters.

What do you actually do in Mewgenics?

The game alternates between managing a growing cat house and sending a selected party into turn-based expeditions. At home, players breed cats, manage inherited traits, expand rooms, and decide which family lines to preserve. Death and retirement make the family tree part of long-term progression rather than a cosmetic collection.

On expeditions, positioning, class abilities, equipment, status effects, and environmental interactions determine how a run develops. Cats can learn different classes and pass genetic traits to later generations, so the same encounter can play differently as the household changes.

How much content is in Mewgenics?

The official Steam page describes a campaign built for more than 200 hours. It advertises more than 10 classes with over 75 abilities per class, more than 900 items, and over 200 enemies and bosses. Those are developer-published scope figures, not a promise that every player will need 200 hours to reach one ending.

Replayability comes from procedural expeditions, inherited traits, class combinations, item synergies, mutations, and the need to rebuild after losses. The console pages do not announce reduced content, but final patch parity and save compatibility should be checked again at launch.

Console-specific features confirmed so far

  • Xbox Series X|S: 4K, 60 fps or higher, console keyboard-and-mouse support, achievements, and Xbox cloud saves are listed.
  • Nintendo Switch 2: 5.1 GB download, TV/tabletop/handheld modes, touch-screen support, and cloud saves are listed.
  • PlayStation 5: vibration and trigger-effect support are listed on the official store page.

These storefront labels confirm supported features, not a full technical comparison. Resolution modes, frame-rate consistency, loading times, handheld battery use, and any platform-specific graphical differences remain unannounced in the sources checked here.

What is still unannounced before September 8

  • Cross-platform saves: platform cloud saves are listed, but cross-save is not.
  • Final US console prices: the checked official pages do not yet provide a consistent price.
  • Physical editions: the official announcements used here cover digital storefront listings and do not confirm boxed copies.
  • Subscription access: Game Pass, PlayStation Plus, and Nintendo Switch Online inclusion are not announced.
  • Console patch parity: the exact launch build and future update cadence have not been detailed.

The Mewgenics game page keeps the official trailer, platforms, release status, images, and future Pixel Twelve coverage together as the console launch approaches.
