Minecraft Dungeons II is out, but some players spent launch day fighting the login screen first. Reddit threads on September 29 filled with reports of error 0064, failed Microsoft-account links and a Minecraft Launcher button that said the game was owned without offering a way to play. Other players got in and started exploring, so the reports do not mean everyone was locked out.

What is error 0064?
Players seeing 0064 said the game showed a “log in failed” message before they could reach play. In the main Minecraft Dungeons community thread, several people reported the same code on launch day. Some later edited their comments to say they got in after retrying. A separate PC thread reported the code on Steam too.
One user posted a meme with the error message beside the game’s title screen; another said they were able to play after repeated attempts. Neither post tells us the cause. Players guessed that heavy traffic might be involved, but Mojang has not confirmed that explanation in the sources checked for this story.
Account linking gave others a second problem
Some players made it past the first sign-in screen and then hit error 0029 while linking a Microsoft account. The photo below comes from a Steam player who shared the account-link message in Spanish. The screen says the account could not be linked and shows code 0029.
That player later said restarting Steam and trying again worked for them. Other replies in the same discussion said a restart did not solve it. For now, there is no single fix confirmed by the developer that we can recommend for every platform.
The launcher caused a different headache
A few PC buyers said the Minecraft Launcher displayed “you own this game” but did not show a playable download button. People in the thread suggested opening the Microsoft Store or trying a launcher setting, but those were player suggestions, not official instructions. Reports in the same thread also mentioned ownership checks and missing preorder items.
Minecraft Dungeons II launched September 29 for Xbox Series X|S, PC, PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch 2. Its new areas and co-op mode are ready for players who can get through setup. The launch conversation will be easier to judge once Mojang shares a support update or the sign-in reports settle down.
