Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu will start streaming on Disney+ on September 2. The movie opened in theaters on May 22, and it is already available to rent or buy digitally, so the Disney+ date is the next step in its home release. Disney’s official streaming announcement also confirms that the film will be available in IMAX Enhanced on supported equipment.
The date gives viewers who skipped the theatrical run a simple way to catch up with Din Djarin and Grogu’s first movie adventure. It also puts the film back beside the three-season series that introduced the armored bounty hunter and his foundling to most fans.
Disney+ release date and what to expect
The movie arrives exclusively on Disney+ September 2. The service’s listing confirms the date, but Disney has not posted a separate release time for the film in its announcement. Regional availability can also vary, so the Disney+ app is the safest place to check when the title appears on your account. The same Disney+ article lists a 9 p.m. ET / 6 p.m. PT launch for its companion podcast, but that time applies to the podcast rather than the movie.

If you have a TV and audio setup that supports IMAX Enhanced, the Disney+ version includes the format’s expanded aspect ratio and IMAX Enhanced sound. Everyone else will still receive the standard Disney+ stream; the extra presentation is tied to compatible hardware.
Digital, 4K, and Blu-ray dates
The home-release schedule is spread across three windows. The movie is available on digital platforms now, reaches 4K Ultra HD and Blu-ray on August 25, and begins streaming on Disney+ September 2. StarWars.com’s home-release page names Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV, and Fandango among the digital stores, while the physical release includes a standard disc edition, a SteelBook, and a Beskar Collector’s Edition.
