Nicolas Cage is playing John Madden, and Christian Bale is playing Raiders owner Al Davis. The new full trailer for Madden follows their partnership during the team’s football years, then shows Madden’s work on television and his move into video games. Prime Video says the film will arrive worldwide on November 18, 2026.
The trailer starts with the Oakland Raiders and the pressure on Madden as a coach. It then moves through press conferences, football broadcasts and the work that turned his name into the title of the Madden NFL game series. Bale appears throughout as Davis, Madden’s longtime friend and collaborator. The film is about the person behind the games, not an adaptation of a game’s story.
What does the trailer show?
There are scenes from Madden’s years on the sideline, including his intense talks with players. A later scene shows him wearing a broadcast headset. Another brings in Trip Hawkins and the early football game that eventually carried Madden’s name. The film covers more than one part of his career, rather than stopping after the Raiders win the Super Bowl.
Cage’s look changes as the story moves forward. In one scene he wears Raiders gear and a baseball cap; in another, he is dressed for television. Bale’s Al Davis also changes over the years. The film’s official poster puts the two actors together on a football field, making their partnership the main selling point.

Kathryn Hahn plays Madden’s wife, Virginia. John Mulaney plays EA Sports founder Trip Hawkins, and Sienna Miller plays Al Davis’s wife, Carol. Shane Gillis is in the cast too, but Prime Video has not named his character. David O. Russell directs the movie. He wrote the script after an earlier draft by Cambron Clark.

The real John Madden coached the Raiders from 1969 to 1978 and led them to a Super Bowl XI win. After coaching, he became one of football’s best-known TV commentators.
