LET IT DIE shuts down its online service August 31 at 7 p.m. PDT / 10 p.m. EDT, which is September 1 at 2 a.m. UTC. The free online version was removed from distribution one day earlier. A paid Offline Edition is planned for fall 2026, but GungHo has not announced its exact release date or price.

Players who may need a save transfer or regional refund should preserve their account details before uninstalling. The Offline Edition will not be an automatic free conversion, and the official transfer window will be announced later.

What time do the LET IT DIE servers shut down?

The shutdown is one worldwide moment. GungHo’s English notice uses August 31 at 7 p.m. Pacific Daylight Time, while its Japanese notice uses September 1 at 11 a.m. Japan Standard Time. Those timestamps describe the same cutoff.

  • Pacific Daylight Time: 7:00 p.m. on August 31.
  • Central Daylight Time: 9:00 p.m. on August 31.
  • Eastern Daylight Time: 10:00 p.m. on August 31.
  • UTC: 2:00 a.m. on September 1.
  • British Summer Time: 3:00 a.m. on September 1.
  • Central European Summer Time: 4:00 a.m. on September 1.
  • Japan Standard Time: 11:00 a.m. on September 1.

A match or menu session should not be treated as guaranteed beyond the cutoff. Finish anything important early and record the account information below before removing the installed game.

Can you play LET IT DIE after the shutdown?

Not through the current online service. The existing build requires online play, and its service ends before the replacement launches. GungHo says LET IT DIE will return as a paid Offline Edition in fall 2026, so players should expect a gap unless the company announces a more precise handoff.

There is no official day, price, preorder, or preload for the Offline Edition yet. A fall window is not permission to invent September, October, or November. The company also has not said exactly when storefront pages for the paid version or DLC will go live.

How will LET IT DIE save transfer work?

GungHo confirms that online-version save data can move to the Offline Edition, but the transfer must be completed during a limited period that will be announced later. The company has not published the transfer tool, opening date, deadline, or full step-by-step process.

  • PlayStation: a save made on PS4 can transfer for use on PS5 when the same PlayStation ID is used.
  • Steam: the Offline Edition is planned for Steam, but the official page has not explained the existing-owner purchase or migration flow in equal detail.
  • PlayStation and Steam: cross-save is not supported.
  • Banned accounts: can buy and play the Offline Edition, but GungHo says their online data cannot be transferred.
  • Paid currency: Death Metal and purchased Kill Coins do not carry over.

What account information should you save before uninstalling?

GungHo’s updated Japanese notice says a dedicated form will be provided after shutdown for eligible unused paid Death Metal or Kill Coin refunds. Regional eligibility and deadlines can differ, so players should follow the notice for the account and storefront they actually used.

  1. Record the 10-digit User ID. GungHo identifies it as required for the refund procedure.
  2. Record the PSN Online ID. This is the online ID used when connecting to PlayStation Network.
  3. Record the inquiry code. The User ID and inquiry code appear under Title Screen → Others → Account Information.
  4. Do not uninstall prematurely. The notice says the User ID and inquiry code remain viewable after service ends only while the game remains installed.
  5. Wait for the official form. GungHo says detailed refund instructions will be published after service termination.

Do not post these identifiers publicly or send them to unofficial accounts. Keep them private and use only a form linked from an official LET IT DIE or GungHo domain.

What changes in the LET IT DIE Offline Edition?

The paid version removes additional money transactions and converts several premium functions to Kill Coins earned through play. It also changes or removes systems that depended on other players or a live seasonal service.

  • Kill Coin replacements: Premium Decals, continues, storage expansion, Dustin 5, base-renovation items, fighter retrieval, and the Express Pass move to Kill Coins.
  • Removed functions: Death Metal-to-Kill Coin conversion, paid R&D wait reduction, rotating Hernia item purchases, and TDM Battle Rush.
  • Tokyo Death Metro: changes from asynchronous player-versus-player raids to CPU-controlled opponents.
  • Death Metal: discontinued along with purchased Kill Coins in the Offline Edition.

The official table does not promise that every online event, season, leaderboard, or social behavior will be reproduced offline. Only the named changes should be treated as confirmed until GungHo publishes a fuller launch FAQ.

Do existing players have to buy LET IT DIE again?

Yes, the Offline Edition is a paid one-time purchase. For existing PlayStation players, GungHo specifically describes an additional DLC purchase through PlayStation Store. New players will buy the offline game through PlayStation Store or Steam after release.

The English page does not give existing Steam owners an equally specific DLC instruction, so PC players should wait for the final Steam purchase and migration announcement rather than assuming the PlayStation method applies. The price remains unannounced on every platform.

Once purchased, the Offline Edition is planned to provide full access without additional transactions. That does not make the current free-to-play version permanently playable; it describes the future paid release.

Which platforms get the Offline Edition?

  • PlayStation: the official specification names PS4. PS4 save data can be used on PS5 through the same PlayStation ID.
  • PC: Steam is confirmed.
  • Xbox and Nintendo: no Offline Edition has been announced for Xbox, Nintendo Switch, or Switch 2.

The PlayStation Store describes the current product as a PS4 game playable on PS5 through backward compatibility. GungHo has not announced a separate native PS5 edition, so the confirmed wording should remain PS4 with supported PS5 use.

Final checklist before LET IT DIE goes offline

  1. Finish time-sensitive play before the cutoff. Do not count on a session surviving beyond 7 p.m. PDT.
  2. Preserve account identifiers. Record the User ID, PSN Online ID, and inquiry code privately.
  3. Keep the installed game for now. This protects access to the account-information screen while GungHo publishes refund details.
  4. Watch for the transfer window. Save migration is supported but must happen during a future limited period.
  5. Wait for official price and store instructions. Fall 2026 is the only release window currently confirmed.

What happens next for LET IT DIE?

The online run ends after more than nine years and over nine million downloads, but the original game is not being abandoned completely. GungHo is rebuilding it as a preserved solo release while the separate sequel LET IT DIE: INFERNO remains its own game.
