Prime Video’s limited series The Challenger has added six actors in recurring roles: William Fichtner, Kevin Carroll, Eric Lange, Adelaide Clemens, Louisa Jacobson and Hunter Burke. Kristen Stewart stars as astronaut Sally Ride.
The drama covers NASA’s shuttle program, the 1986 Challenger disaster and the investigation that followed. Ride became the first American woman in space aboard Challenger in 1983; she later served on the commission that investigated the 1986 accident. All seven astronauts aboard the 1986 Challenger mission died.
Who are the new actors playing?
Fichtner plays physicist Richard Feynman, and Carroll plays Professor Arthur Walker. Lange portrays General Donald Kutyna, a member of the presidential commission that investigated the disaster.
Clemens plays astronaut Rhea Seddon. Jacobson portrays Tam O’Shaughnessy, Ride’s partner, while Burke plays astronaut Steve Hawley. All six roles are recurring, rather than additions to the announced series-regular lineup.
Who was already in the cast?
Stewart plays Ride. The previously announced cast also includes Will Arnett as NASA official George Abbey, Danny Huston as commission chair William Rogers, Sofia Black-D’Elia as astronaut Judy Resnik, Paul Sparks as Larry Mulloy, Boris McGiver as NASA official Bill Lucas and Shea Whigham as engineer Roger Boisjoly.
Where and when can you watch The Challenger?
The Challenger is planned for Prime Video, but it does not have a release date yet. No episodes are available to stream. The limited series is inspired by Meredith E. Bagby’s book The New Guys, with Maggie Cohn as creator and James Hawes directing.
