Zhao Lusi will direct and star in Farewell Letter (告别信), a new Chinese drama in Youku’s 2027 lineup. The platform announced the dual role on September 16, marking her first announced turn as the director of a drama series.

Her Rosy DoeDian brand has also opened a dedicated hot dog shop at Nanjing’s Deji Plaza, bringing another side of her work into the spotlight.

What do we know about Farewell Letter?

Youku’s verified announcement names Zhao Lusi as both director and lead actor. It identifies the series as an adaptation of a novel by German writer Kerstin Gier and lists Zhang Junbo and Zhou Zhaozhong as executive producers, with Zhao Tianyou and Zhang Yamin as chief writers.

The announcement frames the story around seeing life’s possibilities after a stark decision. Youku has not released a detailed synopsis, a character name for Zhao or a complete cast list. Where is Zhao Lusi’s hot dog shop?

Her Rosy DoeDian brand opened its first dedicated hot dog shop on the basement level of Deji Plaza in Nanjing, according to Chinese food-industry reporting by Redcan Network, also carried by Blue Whale News. The report describes a takeaway-focused counter without a sit-down dining area.

Before the Nanjing shop, Rosy DoeDian traveled through Chinese cities in a branded hot dog cart. The red-and-white cartons and dachshund-shaped display carry that design into the permanent shop.
