Jodie Foster is a witch queen who wants to keep her power forever. Walton Goggins is a three-eyed cat who would rather be left alone. Those are two very different problems for Billie and her mother in Hexed, Disney Animation’s original fantasy arriving in theaters on November 25.
Disney’s latest overview brings the six announced voice roles together ahead of the release. Foster’s Queen Celeste and Goggins’ Beef Roger Crummchuk were introduced at D23; they are not characters newly announced this week. Here’s how they fit around Hailee Steinfeld’s teenage witch and Rashida Jones’ much more cautious parent.
The official teaser introduces Billie’s trouble with magic and the trip she takes with Alice. It gives a first look at their adventure, rather than a full explanation of every character’s motives.
Jodie Foster plays Queen Celeste
Celeste is the ruler to watch when Billie reaches Hexe, the hidden world of witches. Disney describes her as a powerful villain determined to hold on to power forever. That puts her on the opposite side of a story about a teenager discovering abilities she doesn’t yet understand.
The character’s look is surprisingly colorful for that job: a tall pink hat, a matching coat and a composed expression. She doesn’t need to look like a monster to be a threat. The contrast is part of the appeal of meeting her before the movie explains how she rules.
Hexed is Foster’s first voice role in a Disney animated feature. It is not her first Disney film. She starred in the original Freaky Friday, so the new role brings her back to the studio in a very different kind of mother-and-daughter story.
Walton Goggins plays Beef Roger Crummchuk
The cat’s full name is a mouthful, but his face is easy to remember. Beef Roger Crummchuk has three eyes, including one above the other two. The image below shows him balancing on a line with a small bottle hanging beneath him.

Hailee Steinfeld and Rashida Jones lead the family trip
Steinfeld’s Billie is impulsive and unconventional, with powers that are difficult to control. Her magic causes problems at school before it takes her much farther from home.

The difference between the two is easy to understand without knowing the ending. Billie is dealing with abilities she didn’t ask for; Alice has to keep up with changes she can’t solve through ordinary parental rules. The film’s premise gives both of them a reason to be frightened, curious and frustrated.
Tracey Ullman and Stephen Fry play magical objects
Not everyone in the cast is a person or an animal. Ullman voices Ms. Quill, an enchanted feather quill pen, while Fry voices Elias Quire, a magical journal. Billie meets the pair in the image below.
