Four Hands, Two Sonatas release schedule

The current official schedule confirms the opening weekend and the recurring tvN time. Because tvN and Netflix have not posted a complete dated episode table or finale date, later dates should not be treated as locked until they appear on an official listing.

  • Episode 1 — Saturday, August 29 at 9:10 p.m. KST on tvN; now available on Netflix. Netflix lists a 1h 8m runtime.
  • Episode 2 — Sunday, August 30 at 9:10 p.m. KST on tvN. Netflix has not posted a single worldwide release minute.
  • Later episodes — tvN lists the drama in its Saturday/Sunday 9:10 p.m. KST slot. The full dated calendar and finale date remain unannounced on the public consumer pages.

The distinction matters for international viewers. Netflix confirmed a global August 29 premiere, but catalog updates and displayed dates can vary by location. If Episode 2 is not visible when the tvN broadcast begins, use the local Netflix title page rather than assuming the Korean linear time is a guaranteed global streaming time.

Where to watch the series

Netflix carries Four Hands, Two Sonatas internationally. The official page currently offers the Korean original audio and, in the version checked for this guide, English audio plus several subtitle options. Audio and subtitle availability can vary by country and device.

In South Korea, tvN broadcasts the series on weekends. The tvN schedule also lists daytime reruns of the first episodes, but those reruns are separate from the first-run Saturday and Sunday slot. The official trailer embedded here comes from the Netflix premiere announcement.

What Four Hands, Two Sonatas is about

The drama begins at an elite arts high school for musical prodigies. Kang Pi-o has spent his life pursuing technical perfection and appears confident, but the official Netflix description places anxiety and pressure underneath that control. His routine changes when he meets Choi Jeong-yo, a late-blooming pianist whose difficult childhood did not extinguish his instinctive musical talent.

Pi-o and Jeong-yo clash because their personalities and approaches to music are so different. That competition becomes a friendship and pushes both of them toward new artistic ground. CJ ENM describes violist Hong Jae-in as the person who brings the two pianists together, making the core story a three-person coming-of-age drama about love, friendship, rivalry, and growth.

The official English pages use two romanizations for Song Kang’s character: Netflix writes Kang Pi-o, while CJ ENM writes Kang Bi-o. They refer to the same pianist, not two different characters. Pixel Twelve follows the Netflix spelling in this guide because it is the version international viewers see on the streaming page.

Cast and characters

  • Song Kang as Kang Pi-o — a perfectionist piano prodigy whose confidence hides anxiety and pressure.
  • Lee Jun-young as Choi Jeong-yo — a warm, free-spirited late bloomer who returns to the piano despite a turbulent childhood.
  • Jang Gyu-ri as Hong Jae-in — a gifted violist who connects the two pianists and joins their story of music and growth.

Netflix also lists Yoon Se-a, Kim Ju-hun, Jung Jin-young, Seo Jae-hee, Kim Hye-hwa, Kim Min, and Lee Myeong-ro in the supporting cast. The official title page credits Park Hyeon-seok and Shin Yee-won as the creators.

How many episodes are there?

Netflix calls Four Hands, Two Sonatas a limited series, but the official Netflix and tvN consumer pages checked on August 30 do not state a total episode count. Netflix currently displays Episode 1, and tvN’s schedule confirms Episode 2. A number repeated by third-party trackers is not enough to make the total official.

That means there is no confirmed finale date to publish yet. This guide can be expanded once Netflix or tvN posts a full episode list. Until then, the reliable schedule is the weekend pattern and the individually confirmed dates above.

Is Four Hands, Two Sonatas a BL drama?

The official marketing does not label the series BL. Netflix classifies it as a Korean music drama and describes the two leads through brotherhood, friendship, and rivalry. tvN also tags the program as romance, while CJ ENM says the three young musicians navigate love as well as friendship and competition.

It is therefore accurate to describe Pi-o and Jeong-yo’s bond as central and emotionally intimate, but not to declare an official romance between them before the series establishes one. Hong Jae-in is also part of the principal trio, so promotional shorthand that erases her role gives an incomplete picture of the story.

What is still unannounced

  • Total episodes: the official consumer pages do not state a number.
  • Finale date: no complete dated schedule has been published.
  • Universal Netflix time: the Korean tvN time is confirmed, but Netflix does not promise one worldwide release minute.
  • Second season: Netflix calls the current production a limited series and has not announced another season.
