His routine changes when he meets Choi Jeong-yo, a late-blooming pianist whose difficult childhood did not extinguish his instinctive musical talent.
Pi-o and Jeong-yo clash because their personalities and approaches to music are so different. That competition becomes a friendship and pushes both of them toward new artistic ground. CJ ENM describes violist Hong Jae-in as the person who brings the two pianists together, making the core story a three-person coming-of-age drama about love, friendship, rivalry, and growth.
The official English pages use two romanizations for Song Kang’s character: Netflix writes Kang Pi-o, while CJ ENM writes Kang Bi-o. They refer to the same pianist, not two different characters.
