Coven Academy has released its full trailer, and the new footage makes the show’s central problem very clear: Briar has just discovered that she is a witch, but magic may be easier to understand than the people waiting for her at school.
Malina Pauli Weissman plays Briar, an independent teenager from New York who arrives at an elite magical boarding school in New Orleans. The trailer moves beyond the first teaser by showing her trying to control her powers while the school’s adults warn that something dangerous is approaching.
At the same time, Briar is drawn toward two very different boys. Jake is a confident warlock with a dangerous side. Ollie is a newly turned vampire who is still learning how to live with his hunger.
Briar is not the only student with a dangerous gift
The academy is built around three teenage witches and the warlocks around them. Jordan Leftwich plays Sasha, an empathetic student who can read minds. Ora Duplass plays Tegan, an irreverent witch who can bend time.
Those powers are not presented as harmless school tricks. The official description says power works like currency inside the academy, while secrets can become deadly. The students are also caught between old supernatural wars and relationships they have been told to avoid.
The full trailer sells the series as a character drama first. There are spells, secret rooms and attacks, but most of the tension comes from students deciding who they can trust.
Briar begins as the newcomer who knows the least. That makes her a useful way into the story, but the trailer also suggests she may be tied to the danger in a way the school has not explained to her.
Jake and Ollie want very different things
Malachi Barton plays Jake, the warlock who seems comfortable with the rules and risks of the academy. Louis Thresher plays Ollie, the vampire whose recent transformation makes every close relationship more complicated.
The official trailer announcement describes Briar’s story as a turbulent love triangle. That means Jake and Ollie are not only two possible romances. They also represent different parts of the supernatural world Briar has entered.
Devon Sawa guest stars as Mr. Cole, a charismatic witch professor. Tiffani Thiessen plays Miss Graves, the school’s formidable and glamorous headmistress. Their characters appear to know much more about the threat than the students do.
The recurring cast includes Swayam Bhatia as McKenna, Brendon Tremblay as Alexander, Keegan Connor Tracy as Tamora, BJ Harrison as Agnes and Nathaniel Logan McIntyre as Teese.
The entire season follows one day later on streaming
Coven Academy premieres October 1 at 8 p.m. on Freeform. The full season becomes available October 2 on Disney+, Hulu and Freeform On Demand.

The first teaser established the school and its students. This full trailer finally shows how the pieces fit together: Briar is learning magic, Jake and Ollie are pulling her in different directions, and the adults are preparing for a fight that may already have reached the academy.
