Clayface’s final trailer is built around Matt Hagen’s face refusing to stay his own. It begins with the actor trying to recover after a mob attack, then turns his experimental treatment into the film’s source of body horror: skin stretches, features shift, and the man underneath starts to come apart.
The trailer still withholds a clean look at Clayface’s completed body. What it shows is the painful road toward it, with Tom Rhys Harries playing Matt as someone terrified by what his new face can do.
What does the final trailer show?
Matt rises from a Gotham street kid to a Hollywood leading man before a crime boss leaves him disfigured. An experimental procedure restores his appearance, but the result will not hold. He can pull at his face like a mask, reshape it, and lose control of it when fear or anger takes over.
Naomi Ackie’s character appears close to Matt during the treatment and its fallout. The trailer frames that relationship as one of the few human connections left when his career, appearance, and sense of self begin collapsing at the same time.
How far does Matt Hagen’s transformation go?
The new footage pushes past facial damage into movement across Matt’s neck, shoulders, and torso. His body bends in ways a human body should not, while red, liquid-like material spreads around him. A hooded figure and several fast cuts tease the larger creature without holding on a full front view.
That restraint keeps the transformation frightening. Clayface is not presented as a clean superhero effect or a monster Matt can switch on whenever he wants. His body looks unstable, painful, and difficult to control.
Who is in the Clayface cast?
Tom Rhys Harries leads the film as Matt Hagen. Naomi Ackie, David Dencik, Max Minghella, Eddie Marsan, Nancy Carroll, and Joshua James also appear. The official cast list has not attached every performer to a named character yet, so the trailer is doing most of the work in showing who stays close to Matt as he changes.
James Watkins directs from a screenplay by Mike Flanagan and Hossein Amini, based on a story by Flanagan. Matt Reeves, Lynn Harris, James Gunn, and Peter Safran are the producers.
When does Clayface open?
Clayface begins its international rollout on October 21, 2026, and opens in North America on October 23. Warner Bros. Pictures is releasing the DC Studios film in theaters and IMAX.
The final trailer sells a horror movie before it sells a comic-book spectacle. It gives Matt a clear tragedy, shows what the treatment is doing to him, and saves the complete monster for the theater. That is a stronger promise than another full reveal in the last 10 seconds.
