Adria Arjona has confirmed one part of her Superman: Man of Tomorrow mystery: the training is real. She says she is spending two to three hours a day in the gym, eating differently, and building muscles she never had before. She still has not said who she plays.

That gap is why Wonder Woman rumors keep coming back. A secret DC role plus a serious physical transformation is enough for fans to start connecting dots, but it is not a casting announcement.

Arjona has confirmed the work, not the role

Arjona has been unusually careful with the details. She has talked about the hours, the diet, and how demanding the preparation has been, while avoiding the character name altogether. Her comments establish that Man of Tomorrow requires a physical performance. They do not establish whether that performance involves a suit, a power set, or a familiar DC identity.

Actors train for secret parts for all kinds of reasons, including fight choreography, stunt work, and the basic shape of a character. Until DC or the film’s team names Arjona’s role, the most accurate description is simply that she is preparing for an undisclosed part.

What DC has actually confirmed about Man of Tomorrow

DC has announced Superman: Man of Tomorrow as a theatrical film written and directed by James Gunn. David Corenswet returns as Superman, Nicholas Hoult returns as Lex Luthor, and the film is set for July 9, 2027. Principal photography wrapped in August 2026, but DC has not released a trailer or a full character list.

Gunn has described the story as an uneasy Superman-and-Lex team-up against a larger threat. Lars Eidinger has been reported as Brainiac, although DC has not published a full breakdown of that role. None of the official production updates names Arjona’s character.

Why Wonder Woman is the rumor fans keep returning to

Wonder Woman is one of the most obvious major DC heroes still without a new-screen casting announcement. When fans hear that an actor is training hard for a hidden role, the character is an easy guess, especially when the actor already has a connection to the modern DC conversation. That is fan logic, not evidence from the studio.

The rumor also fits the kind of role people imagine requiring a visible physical change. Diana could need combat training, but so could plenty of other characters in a film that is expected to be larger and stranger than a standard Superman sequel. The clue is broad enough to support several theories.

The Maxima theory is separate from the Wonder Woman rumor

Some reports have connected Arjona to Maxima, the alien warrior and occasional Superman character, rather than Wonder Woman. James Gunn has pushed back on parts of the screen-test conversation around the sequel, and DC has not confirmed Arjona as Maxima either.

Keeping those ideas separate prevents a rumor from turning into a fake reveal. Arjona could be Maxima, another alien, a new creation, or a character whose physical preparation has nothing to do with the guesses circulating online. The film has given the audience no official answer yet.

Wonder Woman is still a separate unresolved question

DC is developing a Wonder Woman project with Ana Nogueira attached as writer, but the studio has not announced the actress who will play Diana. That project is not the same thing as Arjona’s secret role in Man of Tomorrow, and there is no official statement connecting the two.

For now, the interesting part is the uncertainty. Arjona is clearly working toward a demanding DC performance, and fans have a few plausible guesses. The character name, however, remains with DC until the studio decides to share it.

Which role do you think Adria Arjona is training to play: Wonder Woman, Maxima, or someone nobody is guessing yet?
