Harry Potter is HBO's new television adaptation of J.K. Rowling's seven novels, beginning with Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone. Dominic McLaughlin plays Harry, Arabella Stanton plays Hermione Granger, and Alastair Stout plays Ron Weasley. The adult cast includes John Lithgow as Albus Dumbledore, Janet McTeer as Minerva McGonagall, Paapa Essiedu as Severus Snape, and Nick Frost as Rubeus Hagrid. Francesca Gardiner serves as showrunner, and Mark Mylod directs multiple episodes. The first season consists of eight episodes and is scheduled to debut on HBO and HBO Max where available at Christmas 2026. HBO has renewed the series for Season 2, but has not announced its premiere date or final episode count.
