Loop Hero

The cards do different jobs. A Grove goes on a road tile and creates enemies to fight; a Meadow belongs in the open landscape and helps the hero recover. Roadside cards sit beside the path and can affect nearby spaces. These are placement rules, so a card that will not drop in one part of the map may need a different kind of tile. Defeated enemies can leave weapons and armour. You can pause to compare that equipment and put a new piece into an open slot, but adding more battles just to get loot also makes later loops harder.

An expedition is only one part of your progress. The materials you collect can improve a camp between runs, opening more options for the next trip. You decide when to retreat; walking back to the campfire is safer than waiting for a low-health hero to die far from it. A boss can eventually appear as the map fills, but the first useful goal is often to return with resources and build something permanent. Different hero classes and new cards arrive as you develop the camp.

Four Quarters developed Loop Hero and Devolver Digital published the original PC release on March 4, 2021. The Nintendo Switch edition arrived later in 2021, with Xbox versions following in 2023. The page uses the first release year and the official vertical cover with the native Loop Hero title. The gallery shows the board, equipment and card hand so a new player can recognise the game before starting a run.
