The event is presented as more than a series of matches: a hidden conspiracy forces the fighters to face each other and the histories that pulled them apart.
That is all the studio has confirmed about the plot. The tournament, the conspiracy, and the characters’ pasts are official story details; questions about who wins, who betrays whom, or how the fighters’ powers work in the final cut are still speculation.
Who is directing the movie?
Kitao Sakurai directs Street Fighter. Mary Parent and Cale Boyter produce, with Jason Momoa, Takayuki Nakayama, and Stefan Makhoul also listed among the producers. Legendary Entertainment and Capcom are behind the production, while Paramount handles the theatrical release.
The movie is a new live-action adaptation of Capcom’s fighting-game franchise. It is not a retelling of Street Fighter 6’s story and does not continue the earlier live-action films.
What does the trailer show?
The official trailer sets up the World Warrior Tournament and gives quick looks at the new versions of Ryu, Chun-Li, Ken, Akuma, Blanka, and several other fighters. It leans into the series’ colorful costumes and signature attacks instead of presenting the movie as a grounded martial-arts drama.
