Jeremy Culhane returned as Tucker Carlson on the September 26 season premiere of Saturday Night Live. This time, the Weekend Update guest was there to review summer movies. Colin Jost asked about the films; Culhane’s character kept finding reasons to be angry about them. The sketch is a parody of Carlson, not a set of real movie reviews from him.

The Odyssey starts the movie jokes
Jost asks whether Carlson saw Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey in IMAX 70mm. Culhane’s character says he did, then immediately complains about Hollywood instead of talking about the story or performances. Jost mostly asks short questions and lets Culhane answer.
Next, Jost asks about Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Culhane changes the title to “Spider-Man: Brand New Gender” and shifts to Tom Holland and Zendaya’s marriage. When Jost points out that Zendaya uses one name professionally, the character treats that as another thing to complain about. He says very little about the movie itself.
He keeps changing the subject
With Obsession, Culhane’s Carlson calls the horror film political propaganda. He then admits he has lost his train of thought. The character moves on to Minions & Monsters, but he is not talking about the animated film at all: he uses the title to make a joke about the Trump cabinet.
“I’ve turned on Trump. I’m so brave!”
That line is part of the impersonation. Culhane delivers it after the Minions joke, while Jost watches the character switch from movie talk to politics yet again. Toy Story 5 also comes up near the end.
