Why viewers argued about the vocals

“They weren’t even holding their microphones to their mouths for a majority of their first performance.”
Other SNL viewers made the same point in the episode’s live thread. Some called it lip-syncing. Fans heard it differently
The group’s own fan community was not in full agreement. Some fans disliked the volume of the recorded vocals. One commenter pushed back on the claim that the group was not singing at all:

The second song drew a different response
KATSEYE also performed “Hootie Frutti” later in the show. SNL posted a separate official video for that song.
